If your are running stock head and stock timing no reason to run race gas. It is just a waste of money. You dont need to start running race gas until you start really bumping up your compression and timing.

So with a cool head and +4 timing 50/50 mix is worth it?

It depends on what size domes you put in. You should be safe with a high quality 93 octane up to a 20cc dome. But depending on alot of factors that will be different. Best thing to do is do some research on it. Someone at 3500' above sea level can run a different size dome with pump gas then someone at sea level.

wut kinda octane are we talkin bout here

somethin like a cam2 100 octane that u get at some gas stations or

we talkin straight up 110 or higher?

running 100 cam2 wont hurt the motor but like its been stated save ur money and just run 91/93

I'm running a cpi cool head but not sure what domes. I need to find out. So probably wont hurt me running 93-100 octane for a little bit of a boost in performance but maybe not worth the extra cost of it.

To ANWSER the question NO it will not HURT your motor... you may notice a slight increase in power, but as stated it may not be cost effective unless your compression is high 160+ and your timing is advanced +4 or better

That's not true. My boy got 18cc domes running on 91 octane, has no problems, elevation 2,400 ft. There is another member on here from Tucson, he is running the same setup.

As for 3YLSYKR, it is pointless, and it does smells better. LOL.

Sounds like I'll be ok on 91 until I find out what compression I have, what domes I have, install some vforce 3 reeds and cage, and if I already have timing plate +4 or not. I'll try to contact CPI here and see if they can still tell me what's been done to the bike or not.

regardless, with the mods that u have like stated if ur compression is like 180s or higher thats really when ur goin 2 want to use a higher octane, my plugs where actually comming loose cus i was not using a high enough octane for the compression that i have,

do a compression test but u should not need 2 run anythin higher then 93

Did you read what I wrote? I said as a base to be safe 20cc was a good starting point. I cant run 20cc domes here at sea level but someone higher up can. At 2500' yes you can run a smaller dome. This is why I said, YOU HAVE TO DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!! Also you cant just go by compression. A drag ported motor is going to have lower compression then a stock motor with the same size domes.

Also he didnt ask if it would hurt, he asked if it would help. To answer that question like I did, No it will not help unless you motor NEEDS the octane. Higher octane fuel slows down the burn to reduce detonation. So really if your motor doesnt need the higher octane its almost like running too rich. The motor doesnt burn all the fuel so its not running efficiently. So when a motor isnt running efficiently its not producing as much power as it can.
