shawn941 Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 look for scoring on the cylinder walls,,,it wilprobably need to be bored Quote
Larry's Shee Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Get a Clymers manual. It gives all wear tolerances of crank. Should be able to at least check side clearance of big end, small end free play. Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Get a manual!! It has step by step instructions and helpfull tips. Also, I would take the extra effort and pull the entire motor out of the frame. It only take about 15 more minutes and it make working on it alot easier. So first things first, BUY A MANUAL! Then drain the fluids out and pull the motor out of the bike. Then pull the topend off and take it to a shop to have it either honed or bored. Then you will know what pistons to buy. Then follow the instructions in your manual to reassemble. Quote
jack350 Posted August 31, 2009 Author Report Posted August 31, 2009 thanks guys... ok i already have a cylmer manual... so its suggested to spiltt the crankcase and check the crankshaft properly im also not sure of wat pistons to buy? this topic has proberbly been covered 100X but should i go for cast(proX) or forged (wiseco) i would personally choose forged but dont really know the advantages .. thanks Quote
