DallasGDub Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 Welcome to HQ. A lot of the aftermarket kits do not have the tabs on the plates. Some do not even use the rubber rings. It is fine. Quote

My clutch is not a Vitos, but I found out b/c I could not get the plate to fit with the old rings. So I knew something was up. After checking into it, they were not used. As far as the timing, +4 is pretty much the standard. I would stick with that. Quote
joe rocket Posted August 20, 2009 Author Report Posted August 20, 2009 thanks i will do that. im good with all motors but i wanted to make shur and speak to the guys that deal with this grumpy old basterd everyday. no offence or anything . the motor has ben proven and unchanged for decades but man it can be nasty sometimes. with a little help from the banshee gods and you guys i would like to see it hit 110 mph. DallasGDub Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 i bought a ebc kit that did not have the rubber rings, i think it also had pmarks on it but i just put the plates in i didn't know the marks were supposed to be every 60 degrees, they didn't fit into eachother anywhere just marks for the eye. the rubber rings didn't fit on the plates perfect but they fit and i got it all together, using the old ones, does this mean i don't need to use the rings? once i got it all together and pulled the clutch lever in the plates released some and i could feel a little play between them? Maybe someone with a EBC will chime in. Thats why I was telling him to call Vitos to make sure. They all may be different. I use the FAST clutch and the rings are not needed. I spent about 20min trying to get one ring to stay on before getting on here and finding out my answer. Quote

I spent about 20min trying to get one ring to stay on before getting on here and finding out my answer. searched ebc's faq and didn't see anything on it and also searched google and didn't find much but i did find a exploded view of the factory clutch and figured out how the plates are supposed to go, i didn't soak my plates either so i'm pulling it back apart tomorrow, i'll prob. put it back together without the seals Quote
Building my First Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 The rubber rings are just dampners. I don't think many aftermarket clutches come with them. I wouldn't use them. Quote
