x_doug_x Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 on stock reed cages theres a piece in between the reeds and cage, i guess its there to help the reeds seal? my question is do you need this when purchasing aftermarket reed cages? Quote
x_doug_x Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 (edited) What are you asking? do you need the spacer thing that goes between the reeds and cages or can you put the reeds straight on the cages without that piece thats usually under it? "if you have aftermarket reeds that cover the whole area, cause the stock reeds are too thin and don't reach accrossed so they seal on that plastic, the aftermarket reeds will go all the way accrossed the cages and i don't think you need that plastic piece but i dont know? sorry i just read the op and i was off in wonderland, i got fired today but hopfully this clears it up. Building my First Posted August 19, 2009 Report Posted August 19, 2009 I think what your talking about is the rubber lining on the cage.I think that is needed on the stock cages, I don't think you want the reeds to tap against the bare metal of the cage. I've seen stock cages that have been ported and they still had the rubber. Quote
AKheathen Posted August 20, 2009 Report Posted August 20, 2009 sounds like you have boysen dual stage reeds, not stock reeds. the stock ones seal right against the cage rubber. those little pedals give the reeds bore bottom end flow with les resistance, and the bigger parts are reeds that open mostly at higher flow rates Quote
