michigan_soler Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 ok, so i have a stock shee with wider rear axle (not important) and tors elimitators, i had the local yamaha dealer do the carb syncing on it, but had it out in the dunes this last weekend, at half throttle (roughly) and full throttle it feels exactly the same, if i have it at half, and then hit it to full, it doesn't seem to speed up at all. dco3100 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 time to change your clutches. And I see you goto a "dealership" for tuning, I would advise you not do that anymore, unless you have fat pockets. A couple of good builders out there can help you out,Jeff@ f.a.s.t, Andy@ M&M, Kim @ K&T. Give one of them a call to set you up with a clutch kit... Quote

Does it rev whe you hit the throttle or no change at all? I don't understand if the problem is that it doesn't rev, or that it revs but the clutch is slipping. Sry 4 my english Quote
michigan_soler Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 well, the only reason that it was tuned there was since the quad was in michigan and i was in alabama... i only came up for the weekend and didn't wanna sit around trying to find out how to sync the carbs (have the sync tool though) and it doesn't change at all. clutch is brand new... NOW it has about 15 hours on it. but it was doing it from step 1 and on. its like half throttle IS full throttle, but the thumb lever doesn't have any more resistance for the second half. Quote
slopoke Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 maybe lean????? When did the prob start? Quote
TurboBanshee420 Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 what mods do you have? sounds to me like you need to pop in some 210 or 220 mains if it's all stock with box lid off or piped or something that would change the air flow volume. basically it sounds a bit lean on the top. Quote

If they were'nt installed properly they could be shot within 5min of riding, trust me iv'e done it Another possibility is that you may have an air leak from a bad crank, etc. Or your lean on your main jets lk slo mentioned Quote
michigan_soler Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 (edited) the reason im not thinking its the clutch because it grabs like hell when i let the clutch out, and it doesn't rev any higher pasted half throttle... and for jets, it has t5 pipes, k&N filter thing (its a cone filter) and the jets are the 220(i believe) that FAST sent me when i told him my set up, elevation, and what kinda riding i do (on sand dunes) anyone around silver lake that knows this stuff... i dunno enough about shee's. the clutch was also installed at the dealer when i had them sync/rebuild the carbs. edit: i just put this motor in the bike, and it has about 15 hours on it (rode it all weekend) its a used motor but seems very perky. slopoke Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 with the bike in neutral, if you barely crack the throttle does it rev throught the roof? Quote
AKheathen Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 i'm almost certain you are lean on the mains, unless you are running the snorkel, 2000ft, and100+ degrees, then i could believe 220 may be close. if you are in a higher gear, you can hear the difference, but not feel it if the mains are lean. Quote
michigan_soler Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 it revs just the same in neutral or any gear... it may have been 230's for the mains (i can't remember exactly) AK, it doesn't feel or sound any different passed half throttle. my thought was that it was maxing out at half, and then just stretching something pasted that... i could be wrong on something stretching but thats kinda how it sounds and acts to me. It just depends how lean it is. Do a plug chop and c Quote

michigan_soler Posted August 19, 2009 Author Report Posted August 19, 2009 bad ass, i just run it at silver lake sand dunes, and thats where it stays. i'll try and find the paper work from fast saying what the mains were. what would you guys think i should run for 700 ft, run it all the time i can but its mostly between 60-100 (rare it hits 100) its ran just on sand, never have taken it on a trail. Atleast 280 and up, FAST prolly sent you 300 or larger, unless the info given to him was mistaken. Quote
