doorslammer Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 air leak? did you re-jet for the new barrels or were they originally on the bike? Quote
thebrittishguy Posted July 25, 2009 Author Report Posted July 25, 2009 air leak? did you re-jet for the new barrels or were they originally on the bike? yep new gaskets all torqued correctly. they were originally on the bike with 200 mains jets (the original setup) i jetted the mains to 320 to match the upgrades as the previous guys just left the jetting and did the upgrades. they just did a fresh top end too when i bought it.. mopar1rules Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 you getting only 115lbs of compression, can be due to a number of things......new rings not fully seated, your comp gauge, and the exhaust port being raised (it looks like it from the pics), just to name a few. Quote
thebrittishguy Posted July 26, 2009 Author Report Posted July 26, 2009 ok its definately not the compression tester, i have borrowed a mates which he knows is correct and mine reads the same as his. 115psi i have built the leakdown tester today just waiting for all the sealant to dry and i need to get freezer plugs or something similar tomorrow, then i can do a leakdown test. looking forward to sorting this. tell me something. if an airleak can cause it to be so radical and splutter with no power etc - if i find the leaks and seal them will it automatically be 100% immediately?? might sound silly, but i want to know if sorting something like that will show 100% improvement (provided thats the only problem ofcourse) Quote
Wildcardracing Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 Well, yes if that's the "only" problem then you will be running 100% when you get the leaks sealed up. But, I would suspect you'll have some further fine tuning to do as well. Quote
stroking Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Take a pic like this. what kind of cylinders are these ?? those tranfers look really big,is that where your topend power is made ? Quote
blowit Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 what kind of cylinders are these ?? those tranfers look really big,is that where your topend power is made ? I want to guess 87-89 TRX250R cylinders but I do not see an exhaust bridge and the intake is not quite the same. Possibly some older CR cylinders? Need more views... B Quote
