gregrob Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 man I hope so, He just sent pistons in a seperate box and didnt label them so I had no way of telling, But I am gonna try to swap em around before I send Jeff my motor, he doesnt seem to think its piston slap or anything cylinder related from listening to the video im sure its probally 100 or more to ship one huh? the heat cycle I only did to seat gaskets and retourque, sorry for the confusion..... Thanks Brad How bout you take my advice in this thread and properly measure piston-to-bore clearance in both cylinders, instead of just swapping things around and hoping the noise goes away. Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Damn thats a heck of a knock. I wouldnt run it until i tore it down, check your squish, blah blah. I wouldnt run it. It could grenade and you would be s.o.l. Quote

It could grenade and you would be s.o.l. Yea I know, I checked squish and got .045-.050 tore down top end and check for any signs of detonation and everything looked fine, no marks or scars on domes or pistons, thats why im confused, like i said there isnt much to mess up on a crank swap, but evidently something aint right....Ima check piston to bore clearance like suggested above, i can grab pistons and wiggle them in the cylinders enough to make a cluncking sound, just seem a lil loose to me....but Jeff @ Fast said Mark (the guy I got crank and cyl's from) had no issues at all and it ran super strong... all i did was split cases, drop in crank and new seals (moose i believe) and put on top end....im just hopeing and praying its somethin loose on clutch side or flywheel etc.....but all in all i havent ran it since that first day and just letting it idle for the video purpose.... Ieat4strokes Posted July 6, 2009 Author Report Posted July 6, 2009 got .006 in without much effort after getting past rings, .008 was snug on both cylinders and .009 i could only get in on left cylinder and it was tight........what to check now? Quote
dajogejr Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 I don't see anywhere that you took the clutch cover off and removed the clutch, looked for broken plates, etc. Quote
