Hilarious Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 (edited) here is a rendering of a powerband i believe a powerband is the range of operating speeds under which an engine is able to operate efficiently.... :geek: Edited June 4, 2009 by Hilarious Quote
mdhc500 Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 It is the RPM when the demons wake up and your Shee comes to life. You will know when you hit the POWERBAND... Quote

A large pair of testicles. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powerband This has been covered hundreds of time on this board and others, as well as just about every site that has anything to do with 2 strokes. MikeNick Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 wow you guys are full of smart ass comments. when you guys r done and can answer my question with a decent answer please do so. all i want to know is what makes the damn thing activate On a 2 stroke you have to hit a certain RPM range for power to turn on..When riding your Banshee, when taking off it will feel somewhat sluggish then when the powerband kicks in that is when you feel the snap and you have to hold on..Like when riding through trails or steep hills, you constantly have to use the clutch and keep the RPM so you stay in the POWERBAND, if not it will fall flat on its face, especially in a high gear..Hope this somewhat explains it to you. Thanks MikeNick for a decent answer but let me refrase my question i already know what u said, but what i want to know is what makes it work like i know that when i hit a certain rpm it kicks in but is it something in the tranny or gearing that does it Quote

hercalmighty Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 There really is no such thing as a powerband. The "powerband" is just your rpm/hp curve like you see on a dyno. To see the powerband compare the dyno chart of a 4stroke to that of a banshee. The 4stroke will be really smooth over the entire rpm range where the banshee's will be real low through the bottom on the rpm curve then it will shoot up really fast. This spike in power is what the "powerband" refers to when talking 2strokes. Your "powerband" will be determined by many things like pipes, carbs, porting, timing, compression, etc. There isnt anything that "activates" the powerbands. Quote
