Ieat4strokes Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 Ok whats next? Currently have cool head with 18cc domes @ about 150psi, full drag port, 35mm PWK's, vf3's, timing at +4, t5's......... looking for a little more in 300ft dirt....... what can I do??? Currently running 5.0's Thanks Brad Quote
ohiobanshee Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Better exhaust, cpi, rdz or shearers.Lighten up the bike.If that doesn't help CUBS! Quote
Hilarious Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 lighten the frame, remove front brakes, front spindle mount wheels, drag axle...any kind of light weight parts will help you. those T5's are holding you back also. what kind of fuel are you using? if you're running race gas, bump your timing up a little bit. or you may want to look at converting over to alcohol... Ieat4strokes Posted June 4, 2009 Author Report Posted June 4, 2009 thanks, im looking at a set of drag pipes now, also i'll snatch off front brakes for this weekend, are t5's that bad? hahha i just bought these brand new because i was told they were a good mid-top pipe..... sighs Also ive ben running pump gas but im switching over to 115 oxygenated this weekend, so ill bump the timing up a bit, say +6? Quote
dajogejr Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 In 300 foot dirt, crank the timing up to 7 to 9 degrees. I'm sure you're already running race fuel. I agree...lighten the pig up. CPI or Shearer would be a good pipe....but ask whomever ported your cylinder what they recommend. Do you have a lockup and override transmission? That is a must for any drag racer.... Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I just bought these brand new because i was told they were a good mid-top pipe..... sighs They are a mid-top pipe, just not a drag pipe... You will have little trouble selling the T5s if you want to upgrade... Quote
dajogejr Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 They are a mid-top pipe, just not a drag pipe... You will have little trouble selling the T5s if you want to upgrade... Yes, but he bought them brand new, he's gonna take a hit on them. Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Yes, but he bought them brand new, he's gonna take a hit on them. Maybe he can get a bailout... :ermm: Quote

Stellar Performance Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 Go to alky for $220 today..35 mm mikunnis-115 dumps and mains Holy Crap....thats a killer deal!!! Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted June 5, 2009 Author Report Posted June 5, 2009 Great Deal! but............ It'll put me out of the super stock class and into the modified class where i will be racing against waaaaaaaaay faster bikes, not ready to be giving my money away every weekend just yet ahhahahahah...... Im going to try to stick to gas until i build me a 421 cub or better.......But dajogehr, no im still running 93 pump.....will be going to 115 this weekend so ill try 8 degrees timing. FAST clutch from jeff and no lockup, i was looking into the slingshot to keep form having to buy a clutch cover? worth it? or just do a regular lockup and buy a lockup cover? Quote
dajogejr Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 I'd buy the under cover slingshot from HJR (Herr Jugs Racing) It is cheaper...the cover modified is that costs you. I already had the cover, so I got a normal slingshot in mine. No problems... 150 PSI at sea level with 18cc domes doesn't sound right. I understand with aggressive/drag porting, your cranking PSI can drop, but with that being said...you're still 20 to 30 PSI from where I'd expect. What did the motor squish out at? How old are the pistons/rings? Even with a drag port, I'd expect to see 170ish or so cranking PSI at sea level on a stock 350 motor. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted June 9, 2009 Author Report Posted June 9, 2009 Dajogejr - Im not real good with the squish thing, im more of a see/hands on learner....but i figured my compression was a little low as well, its a fresh bore/hone, brand new pistons and rings.....probally 2 hours on top end....I used a compression guage from O'Reily's has the compression release, oring seals and 2 adapters......is it a crappy guage giving me a bad reading? also im holding throttle wide open and kicking until it stops moving........ Quote
dajogejr Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I would like to see a Matco, Craftsman or snap on gauge used...to be honest. Squish is measured by smashing a piece of solder between the top of the piston and the dome/head. You measure it parrallel to the wrist pin (left and right side of the cylinder) and use a mic to measure how thick that is. Quote
