Steves banshee Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 Do any of you guys know what is safe to put on the Shee fenders to get the paint off(that the guy sprayed on i bought it from)without eating the plastic? I want to get that new graphic kit that covers all the plastic instead of buying new plastic and putting the graphics on it. I want to get one of these kits for my Banshee. Thanks in advance. i want a kit from this site you guys posted http://www.invisionpowersports.com/ Quote

Handyman Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 I think regular gas would work....but not sure about how bad it would be on the plastic... Quote
lilmegill727 Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 i used mixed gas to get it off my dirtbike plastics and it was fine. it worked good too. Quote
Darthwall Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 at your local PPG store they have a spray can type of bumper striper im not 100% on this but it is supposeto work really well as long as you follow the directions I havent used it on plastics but have used it on the poly bumpers on cars you spray a heavy coat on and let it sit for a little while then you can scrape it off just a sugestion look into it before you do it the people at the store should be able to answere all your questions Quote
R. Rollins Posted May 8, 2009 Report Posted May 8, 2009 (edited) Ive used enamel reducer to get paint off of plastic fenders before, as well as laquer thinner. I soaked a rag and hit it really fast to get the paint off. I used a shit load of soaked rags to do it and then flooded the plastics with warm soapy water after I did it to negate the chemicals on the fenders. I scrubbed with warm soapy water for about 15 minuites. I did the chemical strip really fast so those harsh chemicals didnt soak into the plastic for a long time. Afterwards I put on a coat of polishing compound and buffed them out by hand a bit. Then with a clean pad on my car buffer I slapped on a coat of wax and ....wallla....good as new. Edited May 8, 2009 by R. Rollins Quote
