The guys at two brothers yamaha told me to run 32:1 with yamalube, but i smoke alot, as in the exhaust has alot of smoke coming out of it, so i looked in the owners manual and it said 24:1 i believe?? whats the deal?

Everybody has a different mix ratio. i run 32:1 myself also and run it in all my bikes and my alky motor

 

I think the majority of ppl run 30 and 32:1

Personally, I do not like Yamalube. It burns dirty, in my opinion. I use Maxima Castor927 @ 40:1

same here. klotz is good as well. if you try some different oil and your still smoking alot you may need to adjust your jetting

Just remember, when you switch oil or to a leaner ratio, you're gonna burn the old oil out of the pipes. So, it's going to look like it's rich. A day of riding hard should burn it all out. The only way to check your jetting, is do a plug chop. Don't go by the amount of smoke that's coming out of your pipes.

how long has it been since you have repacked your silencers. If they are soaked it can cause extra smoking.

 

I ran Yamalube before I changed to alky. I had no issues with it at all. Burned clean and was easy to get. I ran it 36:1 , 24:1 is pretty rich.

maxima castrol 927 50:1. Been running it for 10 years. never a prob.

I run maxima castor 927 @ 32:1 on gas and alky.

 

I wouldn't go less than 40:1, and I like 32 because I feel it really slows down the wear as opposed to a numerically. I got a friend in oregon who runs 32:1 and he says he gets hundreds of hours out of a build and it looks perfect on tear down.

 

He rides trails so reliability for long long rides is more important to him than the little extra performance you could get out of 40:1, and I tend to agree.

i run 50:1 w/no troubles. IMO the oil quality plays a large role in how lean of a oil/fuel ratio you can run.

I use caster 927 in my old machines (78yz250, 74mx360) I feel the caster is nice and sticky so it oils the old machine and keeps it not sticky but oily. I run 32:1. I have noticed that if i mix some caster and gas, if i dont use it and it sits for a week, it will tend to seperate and the oil falls to the bottom of tank.

 

In my shee i use yamalube, i usually tend to mix slightly heavier then 32:1, sometimes im riding really hard or in hot weather.

 

I have a freind with a all stock 06 shee, 86250ratc bolt on mods, 88cr125 hot rod crank, and a polaris scrambler, he uses amsoil and he mixes 80:1. I told him he was crazy.

I had gotten a 97yz125 for cheap(bike was stolen from me april of 09) and he gave me a bottle of amsoil so i used it at his mixture, the bike ran fine. But i still dont trust the lean. Before the bike was stolen i swithched back to yamalube.

 

I dont like to use difrent oils, i like to start with one and keep using it (yz125 was a exeption).

Does anyone knoe if it hurts to swithc oils?
