nuc_welder Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 I know its not a banshee, but not sure where to look. If anyone knows a site that is as helpful as this one for a yfz please let me know. K well rebuilding the top end just wanting to know if there is anything special to it, like timing or anything? Everything else seems to pretty self explainatory. Quote
docjcwatson Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 Setting the timing on a YFZ450 is a pain in the ass. Period. Head over to http://www.yfztech.com They should be able to help you out. Quote
fastrthnu Posted April 28, 2009 Report Posted April 28, 2009 there is no other atv site as usefull as this one. but you can use that website, and I also use www.yfzcentral.com Quote
J-Madd Posted April 29, 2009 Report Posted April 29, 2009 Yeah check out YFZcentral.com. The most important thing about that job is not over torqueing the cam journals. 7.2 ft*lbs. Don't try to guess with a torque wrench that starts at 10. Go ahead and retart the exhaust cam 1 tooth, it it is stock. I hate YFZs . I've had some serious bad luck with those engines. Quote
nashport_native Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 lol my brother has an 05 yfz450, watched him blow it up twice in the year he has had it, jumped time, valve hit the piston broke the head off the valve turned it 90 deg and stuck it in the head, also killed both cams from the shim bucket blowing up from the valve to piston impact about 2 months later rod bearing went out of it. always gives me a hard time about running 2 strokes, but at the end of the day my 2 stroke is still running and I haven't had to adjust 100 things on it befor or in the middle of a ride Quote
fastrthnu Posted April 30, 2009 Report Posted April 30, 2009 Most of the time when shit goes wrong, its because the person who works on it is a retard. MOST of the time my quads have broke was because I did something wrong. I beat the ever living shit out of my banshee and it sits broken more than it runs. ITs def easier to work on than any 450 though. My 450 is the broken banshee backup. Quote

I wasn't riding it either time...might have been overrevved, I don't know. I finally traded it (with motor #3) for a Banshee parts bike. Quote

If have some internal problems but my lack of knowledge was the problem. Quote
