bama boy Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Ok so i have been having trouble with getting my jetting correct. I was running 280 mains, 30 piolts, and needle on the 3rd clip from the blunt end. Seemed to be really boggy on low end and lean on top end. So today i put 290 mains, 25 pilots, and moved the needle to the last clip next to the blunt end. It ran better than ever since i bought it!! Does it seem odd to have the needle on the last clip? Jetting is confusing to me. It doesnt bog anymore at all and I never knew this thing would go as fast as it did today. Do I seem to be at a safe jet point or not? Please help me out. My plugs seem to be the right color as far as everyone on here says. Dark brown, but not too dark. I want to thank everyone for all the help! I really appreciate you guys taking the time to answer my questions and point me in the right direction. Quote
black sunshine Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 What are your mods, elevation and temperature? Have you done a plug chop yet? It is hard to keep track of jetting when you change everything at the same time!! With the clip closest to the blunt end, you are leaning out the fuel, so it will run like an ape. Some mods prefer a different taper on the needle. They do make a 27.5 pilot, also. Quote
bama boy Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Mods are: .40 over reed spacers boost bottle +4 timing key gold series pipes and silencers 290 mains 25 pilots needle on last clip(closest to blunt end) 1800-2000 above temp is in the 60's now but will be summer soon.(85-90) I did a plug chop and they look good as far as color. Should i up my mains more and get 27.5 pilots? Leave needle where it is? Seems to like it on the last clip. Quote
black sunshine Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Bama, look at FASTOYS sig, it contains a link to do a proper plug chop  If it likes it on the last clip position, IDK what that'll hurt. Quote
AKheathen Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 the stock needle was designed to drop into the little stock 200 main. now, it's dropping into a hole 1.5x the size, and lowering it will help lean out the extra fuel. some bikes like the extra, and some less. mine are longer and fatter than stock. don't worry about leaving it where it is, that's what shee likes. bama boy Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Hey AK, U said dont worry bout leaving it where it is. If I had 280 mains in and then put 290's in, moved the needle form the middle to the last clip. How lean did i make it? This jetting shit is confusing to me. Im thinking i should go up more on my mains. When i put the 290's in and moved the needle it ran extremely well but did seem to run a little hotter. I dont want to fry my motor. I just had it bored. Please help me. If anyone can explain rich, lean, and needle clip to me or send me a thread it would prob help me tromendously! Thanks alot. Im figuring this jetting out slowly buy surely Quote
