Badasshee Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 u shouldnt hurt anything i would still ride it i meen like iknow its not good and if it blows up im replacing it anyways i just dont wana be down for that long if i can still ride it how it is for now. Quote
black sunshine Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 (edited) If it "blows up" you will probably be facing alot more carnage($) than if you don't blow it. Things fly apart and wreck other things that you don't need to replace with a new top end. Edited April 25, 2009 by black sunshine Quote
250Rho Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 he said hes doin a 4 mill stroker when he tears doun so hell have the cases apart dickin with the crank anyway id say the only thing your risking is physical damage to your cylender walls or to the insine of the sealed part of the crank case from chunks of piston. if you got a service manuel then theres no need to be afraid of the tranny depending on how old the bike is you might think about crank and tranny bearings and bushings. the only reason that i didnt do the ones in the r during the tear doun was that somebody had beat me to it and it already had great looking bearings in it otherwise id have replaced im just cause its so old dont fear ot exploding the r was doun to 60 pst while hot and 55 cold before it went now thats shitty compression for ya. it still seemed to run good though, exept for the last 5 minits  i let it get that bad cause i knew it needed a new rod and the crank was coming out for a complete overhaul Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 i had an rm were i could fit a piese of paper between the cyl and ring cleanly never did a compresion test so couldnt tell u the numbers but for some reson i could still pull wheelies in last gear. i built the shit out of that bike but i think you should be fine people run there bikes on 90 pounds of compression and still ride it long and hard.
