Woolfman Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Had a question wondering if my upper hoop on my frame is bent. My upper hole to screw the plastic around the grill does not line up the hole in the plastic is about a half inch in front of the threaded hole attached to the steering stem and frame hoop. Also there is a slight bow in the tank shroud plastics like those screw holes were pushed back can get those screws in but takes some muscle. Does that sound like a bent frame hoop and if so anyone know of any ways to fix it? Quote

twizted269 Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 ive got the same problem on one of mine. i beat the living piss out of it to straighted it up better with no luck at all. im sure it is tweaked a little. i know mine is. just something that youll have to learn to live with. let me know if you find a way to bend it back though. Handyman Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 This sounds like the bike was flipped and landed on the handle bar area..... this is an easy fix....I had to do this to mine.....Find a tree, post or something that you attach a ratcheting tiedown strap to....remove the radiator plastics.....Hopefully you have a bumper.....take the front of the banshee and place it against the object......attach the straps to both sides of the steering loop(or just the affected side). get everything snug....now use the straps to bring the back tires up off the ground about 6-12"... now get on the banshee as far back as you can and kinda bounce on the ass end....Oh and I'd loosen the clamp holding the steering stem....you will find the steering loop material is quite strong and you may need to really bounce on it.....it will bend back into place....I did this with my arm in a sling, broken collar and 3 broken ribs.... AKheathen Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 yes, this is a common problem. pull the rad/tank plastics and tank, and you can see where it's bent @ the gussets on the bottom. i was just gonna suggest using a 6 foot bar to bend it, but i think i'll try the come-along method. inspect it for cracks before and after you straiten it, because you don't want it to snap and make it worse, or get hurt. if you have acetalene, that would make a huge difference, too, and will keep the metal stronger. shit1 that reminds me- i have to buy more oxy :: shit doesn't last long Quote
Onesickcrewcab Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 First time my banshee went upside down this happened. Didn't really notice it until i tried to take the gas tank out. I used a long bar to bend mine back, but I took it all apart for PC. Good luck fixing it. Its not the difficult and make sure there are no major cracks. Mine wasn't bent that bad. I haven't worked on a banshee yet that has had a straight steering stem hoop. Quote
official_style Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 i have done this before, just strap it down to your trailer with a come-along, and then clip another come-along from the hoop with the steering stem, to the trailer, now crank it a little, then check plastics, repeat till lined up. Woolfman Posted April 22, 2009 Author Report Posted April 22, 2009 Here is some pics looks like it's not that bad you can see where the plastic is bowed and steering stem is too close to the tank and on the last one thats is what it looks like when I line up the top hole on grill plastic what do you guys think?
