yamaha rider Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I just bought a banshee 2 weeks ago and have not hit any jumps yet but heard they're not good for jumping, just wanted some opinions on what u guys think. I have an 88 with stock suspension and looking to upgrade to aftermarket shocks and a-arms any advice would be nice I mostly trail ride and jump occasionally nothing to big maybe 30-40 feet at the most. fastrthnu Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 for this, banshee with stock suspension no good. go with aftermarket grasshopper. Quote
skinindustries Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 I have stock shocks on mine, And i jump the road almost everytime i ride. i mean i dont get that high maybe like 3-5 feet but i go like 20 feet. I think it jumps pretty good. But i only jump it like 2 times a day if that. i am more of an open filed kinda guy. (GO FAST). Quote
278 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 It'll do ok, but once you upgrade your suspension it will do alot better Quote
shee4speed Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 If you want to jump with the big boys, you'll have to upgrade.Stock does okay on small stuff though. Quote
rubberneck Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Once you go to aftermarket suspension, you wont want to ride a banshee without it. Quote
2 STROKIN' Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Definately upgrade your suspension!! I jump ALL the time on my Banshee. It took a little gettin' use to 'cause I'm a little front end heavy. After goosing my rear tires off the lip, I just extend my arms and lean back, gas it or brake while in the air, whatever the case may be. Try to have a down side whenever possible!!...I've gone pretty high and far over the years. Don't have too many pics, but here's a couple- (I was VERY stupid ONE day last year and didn't wear my helmet...BAD BIRD!!) Sorry, poor pic quality.(Freeze-frames off a vid) Quote
rtcc Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 This is me yesterday. nothing ridiculously huge but its fun. I have always jumped my banshee but I weigh 220 and even with aftermarket shocks I still max this thing out. I have bent the shit out of all my foot pegs and bolts. It doesn't have the best geometry for jumping that's for sure, but you can still have some fun with it. Quote
2 STROKIN' Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 That's a kick-ass step-up!! And the backround...what a great place to ride!!! Jealousyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! lol! Quote
peterlocal22 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 with the right mods a banshee can be excellent at jumping i love jumping mine Quote

Broken Teeth Productions Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 Just when you go up the lip be centered on the bike..not leaning fowards or back. Thatlly solve the front end droping problem. Also have you guys ever seen some one jump and right when they hit the lip there legs totally colasps? Dont let that happen...that just throughs the bike off. http://www.flickr.com/photos/broken_teeth_...045789/sizes/o/ I know im leanring foward...but you had to huck the jump to actually hit the landing http://www.flickr.com/photos/broken_teeth_...in/photostream/ Quote

yamaha rider Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Hell yeah nice pics makes me feel a lot more confident now. Where can I get a good deal on a set of new shocks and +2 a-arms, found some on ebay but they were all for 90 or newer banshees, I have an 88. Quote
