wacko2000 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Im having some work done on my motor right right now, I heard that higher compression gives ya some better bottom end. I now that everything is give and take. So school me on the compression/timing/octane thing I will have the timing at +4, running vp110 compression will be around 185 Will i be able to run alittle more timing, do i have to worry about this thing blowing up with alot of compression and timing??? thanks Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 185 is getting up there but not unreasonable. my brother had a FAST motor that was right around 180. it made a ton of power down low. i would shoot for anywhere between 175 and 185 and you should be fine. with higher compression does come more stress on parts. my 10mm cub motor runs about 175 PSI. its enough compression to give me good grunt down low but not so much as to hinder my top end performance.. jbooker82 Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 Jeff shoots for around 185 for his race fuel motors. That is what mine is at. I ran my patriot drag ported 4mill at 185 and +6 timing per dan wade. Jeff recomended +4 with 185 psi. josh Quote
wacko2000 Posted March 30, 2009 Author Report Posted March 30, 2009 When running this much compression, Is there anything that i should keep a eye on? The bike is going to be used for alittle bit of everything, But i do ride hard and abuse this thing so anything else i should kno?????? thanks Quote
sredish Posted March 30, 2009 Report Posted March 30, 2009 you should be good to +6 or so.... I used to run 175 with +7 timing advance. Quote
