Cool Head

I was wondering what size cool head can go on a 04 stock engine? I have the fmf pipes, power reeds, the k&n kit and jetted.... I want more compression can I just bolt cool head on and thats it or what? Also should I change the CDI box and ignition too?

welcome to the HQ.yep, just bolt it on.You have to decide if you want to run race gas or not.That would be the size of the domes to make more compression.Advance your timing to +4 with a timing plate.

Thanks do the cool heads come with domes? If not what size domes do I need to go with and can I run 112 octane in a stock banshee engine?

generally they dont come with domes.

 

you can run 112 octane on any engine, but will not gain you anything, you only need to run higher octane fuels when your compression runs above 155 to 160.

 

 

more compression more octane,

 

stock motors are generally between 110 and 130 psi depending on how long they've been together. you will not gain anything from running race gas.

 

 

dome sizes change the PSI, you should be able to run 20cc domes and be right around the 150 psi mark still safe to run 93 octane pump gas.

 

19cc domes would be on the edge of running pump gas, some say run it and some say they've had no problem on 93 octane.

 

18cc run a higher octane gas.

before you pull your top off do a compression check and that will help a builder help you on what size of domes you need to be looking for

Cool, Thanks! Also can I go ahead and change the timing plate on an stock engine to +4? And will the CDI box and coil aftermarket help?
