moneybags Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 i have taken 5 different banshee engines apart they are not hard by any means, and plus i will prob go through the motor next winter again so if i am not happy with it then i can do the override. i do have another question someone mentioned that a +8 will not be enough? any thought or experiences? Yea, if you already have the 12 paddle extreems you need to go bigger then a +8 swingarm. IMO Quote
sleeper06 Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 I rock out a plus +6 on a stock port cub,if it hooks it wont come down till I click sixth,my drag bike has a wheelie bar.I have no problems with it but I live to ride wheelies so im rite at home Quote

Your motor will probably not make it till next year. When your motor doesn't shift because you're getting to much power to the ground, the RPM's will still be rising and you'll still be screwing around with your clutch and shifter trying to make it shift. Then BOOM. I had a +8 on my 14mil. It was cool. Quote

dajogejr Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Hate to say it, but we'll be here to say I told ya so. And...especially with a lockup.... You'll be able to shift it...but I promise lesser motors will beat you if they have an override. It's like adding 10 to 20 HP just being able to shift every time AND keep the motor in the meat of the power band. Quote
rubberneck Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 You will be taking that motor apart sooner than you want. I am exactly where you will be in 6 months. LOL I did exactly what you are doing. these guys said get the override, i said no. Now the motor is apart. Do it man, you wont be sorry. Quote

Do it man, you wont be sorry. damn it you guys lol ok i will freakin get it done the only thing i am scared of is, i was told that i absolutly cannot let off in any gear of the override. i kinda wanted to see what the bike is going to be like first and get use to it without messing it up and accidentially letting off in a gear and ruining something... that is my biggest concern. i mean what if i am racing with the override in and i have to let off really quick and i forget to pull in the clutch right away what happens to my motor then? what do i get a 1-4, 2-5? dajogejr Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Dunable override, you can let off the gas whenever you want. It will wear the forks quicker if you constantly let off the gas at TOP RPM...but it won't break it like tomorrow or next week. Even a standard cut override is a little more robust than previously thought, but a dunable is the way to go. 1-5 N down is my favorite by far....and what I run. It is the most versatile. Quote
00tbanshee Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 just tore mine down after the season and had to put one fork in but for the gain with having a overide its well worth it.i let of the gas all the time without pulling the clutch in Quote

moneybags Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 (edited) Their is a pice behind the clutch basket that is probly keeping you from being ablt to split the cases from the bottom. Your crank seals will be fine... Edited March 14, 2009 by moneybags Quote
docjcwatson Posted March 14, 2009 Report Posted March 14, 2009 Beau said it already. You can see a "Half moon" shaped white plastic piece that is right behind the basket. Two screws to take it off. Then take a rubber mallet and smack the bottom case sideways. Might take a couple of times, but it will come apart. You do not need new seals. If you replaced you're seals everytime you tear you're motor apart, you will have more money in seals than you would performance parts. Quote

dajogejr Posted March 15, 2009 Report Posted March 15, 2009 My guy is easily at least a few weeks out. Swamped. If you're in a hurry (like a week or two) I'd be doing you a dis-service by telling you I can get you one quickly! Quote
