Just like the title said, I had my frame blasted & powder coated & like a dumb-ass forgot to plug the bearing for the stem. I have never had to replace one of these except on a Polaris. The local dealer is total useless!!! Any help would be really appreciated.

Damn, sucks to be you. j/k. Try getting some Permatex Gasket Remover in a spray can from the local auto parts store. It eats PC pretty quick. So does Aircraft Remover, but it's expensive for doing that little area. Spray some in there, and let it sit for about 4-5 minutes, then try to unscrew it. Don't get it anywhere else, cause it will fuck up your PC. Just spray it down with water to make it stop working.

I did the same thing. The air craft remover is your best bet. If I recall that bearing is sealed. And it doesnt take much abuse. Unless it really needs to be replaced, leave it alone. If you do have t rep;ace it, it has a big nut that fits a bolt head in there. I think Locogato pulled one out of a frame. maybe he can remember what size botl fits it.

Damn that sucks bro, after you get rid of the PC that is holding that lock nut on for the bearings you may actually have to get that tool from yamaha to remove that lock nut. I know it was a pain trying to get it out with a screw driver and hammer much less if there is a little powdercoat to block it.

if the bearing was sand blasted, cooked in a pc oven, then coated over it is probably trash. get the keeper out. i have a keeper and a bearing. pm me if you need them.

The hex is 30mm in the retainer. I got a bolt & welded a nut on it but didn't have an impact big enough to break it. I will bring my big gun from work home & something will happen good or bad. The bearing was junk by the time it started moving it was ruff. But what I couldn't believe was my local dealer didn't know how to even get the damn thing out. The service manual is not very descriptive also. Thanks for all the help!!!

X2, weld a nut onto a 30mm head bolt. Should come out very easily with an impact, from the top that is. From there the bearing comes right out.
