Ieat4strokes Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 ok i installed my tors removal from vitos today....i think my slides are sticking, when looking through airbox both are in sync, move and fall freely with a clunk. cable is not in a bind we checked it several times and its like it takes a while to idle down after blipping throttle. When cruising around yard it hung open on me but throttle wasnt sticking, it felt normal....is it possible i have slides in wrong carbs? i mean the ramps are facing outwards towards idle screw so i know they are in the carbs right. could my springs be weak? would weak springs cause it to not go directly to idle after pressing throttle? i had this problem before the tors install as well......thanks for any suggestions Quote
Wildcardracing Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 To solve your hanging problem try cleaning the carb slides and slide bore really well. As for the high idle, try adjusting your airscrews in 1/4 of a turn at a time and see if that helps. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 appreciate it man, ill take caps off and clean slides real good tomm, also i forgot to mention i did debur the holes and touch-sanded with dremel to make sure they wouldnt hang up.... so much for that hhaha one more thang, im having issues with idle screw backing out due to vibration.... any simple fix? i was gonna try to find a small thin nut to use as a locknut but they dont have any that fine of a thread at coughworkcough....... KaosBanshee44 Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 The idle screw kit should have came with a lock nut. So yours just has a screw is all? Quote
shee4speed Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 make sure your carb caps are not on to tight also.just an fyi. Quote
1.6i Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 make sure your carb caps are not on to tight also.just an fyi. I did this last time in glamis, one side was apparently too loose, sucked up a bunch of sand in my right carb..now i make sure its tighter than looser..i may need to replace the rubber seal eh? Quote

I'm not sure on the rubber seal but I had some sticky slides due to the caps being to tight. What a pain in the ass.. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 how tight is too tight? i cranked down on my caps pretty good..........also i didnt hear of anyone mentioning the springs? mine feel awful weak, when i loosen the carb cap it doesnt make my cap jump up, on my friends shee it does...... KhaosBanshee - no mine did not come with a locknut....i knew something wasnt right about that i was like damn thats piss poor design......well ima give Vitos a call tomm and get that handled.... AKheathen Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 are your springs cut? i couldn't imagine that the stockers could weaken that much without heat on a 2000, but i could be wrong. i havn't had a problem screwing them on hand tight,so the tops don't move, then locking the retainers. if you can't get the locknut, maybey you could try a small amount of blue rtv on the threads Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 not sure if they have been cut or not..... i doubt it. Just was wondering if maybe they could be weak. Its like my slides are hanging but not sticking all the way. When i blip the throttle it takes a few seconds for it to calm down to a idle. Ima clean em real good in the morning when i get off and see if that helps... also on the locknut, them bastards better give me some but until then ima try some rtv or maybe a spring or something to put a little tension on it to see if that helps...
