Keyser Soze Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 Myself and T-shee (mostly T-shee) are trying to get our tecate-4 ready to ride as a spare for a upcoming trip. Everything seems to be in order but the power vavle is all messed up. If its removed completley I dont see why it wouldnt be ridable without it, should effect the top end at all right? But then again im pretty dumb. Thought some of you guys might know. I tried getting a response from the guys at www.kawieriders.com unfortunatly the three people that have them didnt know. Quote

Fireroad Express Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 put it either in the open or closed position if you can. whats wrong with it anyway? Quote
sled Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 I stuck mine open on my LT250R. I just lost some bottom end by doing that. I'm sure you can do the same with a Tecate. Quote
4stroker Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 my pv servo quit on me on a ride once with my RZ cyls, so i set the pvs in their middle position and kept riding, worked fine. just play with it, it might be ok with them set all the way open (or taken out) or it may be total crap, just have to try it, you wont hurt anything, other than the power delivery! T_Shee Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 thats pretty much what i was thinking.. the problem is it has 2 valves and one of them is missing. dont wanna spend much money on this thing so i took the other valve out and im gonna try it like that. Quote
RollinRhino Posted February 13, 2009 Report Posted February 13, 2009 One weekend at Unadilla some years ago the PV on my CR crapped out. The old style pvs was a slotted barrel that was suspended on a spindle and held into place with a bearing on each end and one of the bearings went bad. We just wedged it open and raced the whole event like that. It only messed me up at low RPMs. It had no affect at WFO so it didn't matter. The PV system is designed to give you low end and pretty much nothing else. Quote
Keyser Soze Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 Awesome thanks for the input guys Quote
