I got some money to spend about $1100. I am really getting used to the power of my bike and looking to get some more out of it. I like doing hill climb, tree shot, etc. But my bike right now doesn't seemed to being doing to well. Half the time dosen't even want to go up in 2nd think its due to my sprockets there both stock. But was thinking of a cool head, some kind of port job, timing change, and maybe welded crank. Don't know to much about modding a banshee. Any advice would be great thanks.

first off welcome to hq.....what do you mean by not doing to well in 2nd gear is it traction or speed? you should get it to hook up the way you want thats a priority.......and if you do a crank you'll be spending more than 1k unless you do it yourself......

welcome to the HQ dude. All you have to do is call Kevin at HJR and get her rebuilt. Or you can call who ever you want. I would recommend a good port job,a nosshead, and some nice carbs.Put your timing up a few dagrees and bam. You'll love it.

Thanks, this might be a dumb question. But about the port job... not really to sure what that is. Would i have to get new pistons? Is there a certain size i would want to port it out to?

you just might need to hold that throttle open more  ........since your wanting to put some $$ into your bike and having trouble with it bogging in 2nd gear and having to down shift i think you should port your cylinders. You'll need a reputable builder and want more low end power for hill climbs. You won't really know if you need pistons till its off but just do it anyways and bore it one size that way your not taking it apart again for a while. you'll feel a huge difference with a good port job good luck with what you decide!

there are no sizes with port jobs it just changes flow search the website theres dozens of talks about porting. most people here are duners

Dude I'm guessing this must be your first two stroke. You just got to keep those rpm's up don't ride it like a grandpa rev that bitch she can take it. Oh and it doesn't want to start out in 2nd then don't start in 1st or get gears. I droped a tooth in the front cause I like acceration over top end I probably could start out in 3rd but I don't.

Oh and for mods I just did mine and I was right in your price range. I did a dune port, wiseco pistons, hotrod crank, cool head, gears, and luckly I had t5's on it when I bought it and I love it. I needed that power coming from my cr250 and cr500 got hurt to many times mx track now I'm on 4 wheels. I am loving it thought got to love the dunes on a banshee.

Sorry got rambling on just my 2 cents

first, i would look into your jetting. it should not bog. i am geared up to 14/40 with 22's and have no problem at all starting in 2nd, and hill climb in 4th and 3rd

It is my first two stroke.. But I know i don't ride that thing like a grandma lol. I don't kow what the deal is. My buddy has been on it he's had one for a while now. Had the same problem coming out of a tree shot with my bike. But here's what I am thinking. Some kind of dune port, noss head, maybe change my sprocket so i get a little more low end power, +4 timing, and welded crank. Maybe some pistons not sure about those though.. Might starting gettin out of my price range. What you guys think? im located around the salem or area. Been trying to find a good place i could take it to.

I just made this mistake. If your getting a port job, might as well rebuild the topend as well since you have the topend off. (I found out the hard way...)

A rebuild will include new pistons, rings, bore and hone. You will be good to go. I got my porting from Kevin Herr, and he did the full rebuild as well. Most reputable builders will do it all for you.

One question why are you so set on a new crank is yours broke? If not just do your top end and timing and pipes your stock crank should be just fine I only got a new crank cause a piston exploded and jacked mine up.
