yammyboy3 Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I TOOK THE LITTLE HOSE OFF OF THE TOP OF THE HEAD AND IT STARTED SHOOTING OUT A LONG STREEM FOR ABOUT A MINUTE WHAT IS THIS FROM IS IT NORMAL?? Quote
2001Stroker Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Yes, it's supposed to do that. Keep it hooked to the top of the radiator. That's how the coolant system bleeds air out of itself. Put it back on, and fill up the radiator. And please, turn off your caps. It makes people think you're screaming. Quote
blowit Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 I TOOK THE LITTLE HOSE OFF OF THE TOP OF THE HEAD AND IT STARTED SHOOTING OUT A LONG STREEM FOR ABOUT A MINUTE WHAT IS THIS FROM IS IT NORMAL?? If you did not drain the coolant first, yes, that is normal. It is part of the coolant system designed to purge air from the very top of the engine. It will generally drain until it develops a vacuum in the system and will continue draining one an air source (like the radiator cap) is opened. It will drain from the fitting due to hydrostatic head from the radiator pushing it up and out. If you remove the hose from the top of the radiator that connects it, it will not drain because the hose is higher than the water level in the bike. Hope that helps. Brandon Quote
