baack Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 the banshee locked up in 6th today when i was out riding i pulled the clutch in rolled to a stop looked at everything thought i toasted her and i kick her over and she fired right up any idea what it could possible made me lock up in 6th almost wide open? i have 320 main jets with t5 pipes, vforce reeds and bored .20 over stock any ideas? I was out riding today for about an hour and when we decided to go eat we headed to the bar on the road i was haulin ass hit 6th and ran for approx 1000yrds 7 to 10 second of almost wide open throttle and when i let up on the throttle the rear end locked up and started sliding, so i pulled the clutch in and coasted to a stop and looked it over and then kicked it over and it started up rode back to the truck which was about a half hour and it was still pullin just didnt stay on the throttle hard in 6th and she was good i was thinkng maybe going to 350 main jets? You starved the engine of gas by holding it open in 6th gear for so long and caused the motor to lean out really fast, which in return caused the pistons to expand and lock the motor up. The pistons cooled down which was why you were able to start it back up. I would do a compression test to see if there is any extensive damage and would not hold it more than a second or two at wide open throttle. Quote
