official_style Posted February 6, 2009 Report Posted February 6, 2009 i was intalling my chariot timing plates today, and i coudlnt figure out where the stator wires were supposed to go. at first i tried putting them on the back of the plate, like on the stock one, and the screws would not go in, i tried on both plates. then i tried running them across the front of the plates, but the flywheel would hit when cranked down. so i just ran them behind the plate with no screws and tightened the plate to the motor. is this right, or am i missing something? VWMIKE Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 Hmm thats odd, I just installed one yesterday on my 2001. The wires pass through the cut out, and behind the plate, mine was drilled and tapped for the stock hold down clamps. My wires where all long enough. I can take some pics for you if your still stumped. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 i had the same issue with mine..... factory screws wouldnt go into the chariout plate, ended up having to go to hardware store and get some new allen head screws, with a little cohersion i got it to work, You have to at least screw the top clamp into the plate for the ground. official_style Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 Yea pics would help. The clamps actually provide a ground? It seems like they are just holding the wires against it, since all they are touching is the insulation? Quote
official_style Posted February 8, 2009 Author Report Posted February 8, 2009 Looked at it again tonight, your right about the ground. What I had to do was force the screws in, now it is fine. I guess whoever made them had a few in them and put the wrong threads in or something Quote
