sprocket hub slop

The splines are worn out on either the sprocket hub, or the axle. Like Loco already said, tightening the nuts down too tight will not fix that. Take it apart and check the splines. They should be flat on the tops. If they're sharp or getting sharp, they're worn out.
thanks guys, I,ll take it apart tonight.

I just had this happen on mine, some hillbillys overtightend the nuts at one time crushing the spacer between the bearings. Even with my nuts tight the hub still had play and was super worn. Be careful if the splines are loose on the axle, cause if you just replace the hub on the axle it will work its way loose in a matter of time and trash the bearings and hub again. Check out ebay for the best price on G force axles, they've gotten really good feedback here.
