CBAIER1206 Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 I gotta give mad props to Banshee_Bandit, I saw your grill in a post and just had to have it. Anyways, I took posterboard and traced a piece to fit in where the stock grill goes. I test fit and then removed and began to draw my design freehand. Once I was done with the first side, I attached again and mounted to bike testing for fit. I was really happy with it so I continued and mirrored the other side exactly like I did the first...once I was done I again mounted making sure that everything lined up okay Later today I will take my stencil to a local place that has a water jet machine and have them cut it out of a sheet of polished stainless steel that I had laying around. Wish me luck! Will post pics of final piece when she's done! Quote
harbinger of death Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 That is one awesome looking grill!!! How much does it cost to get it cut on a waterjet? Quote
BUILDER Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Wow you did an awsome job on that. LOL you have way more patience than me and a much more steady hand than i do. Quote
CBAIER1206 Posted January 13, 2009 Author Report Posted January 13, 2009 The guy told me it would be less than $100 bucks but not sure because he said he would have to see the piece first before quoting an exact price...I will post that as well when its done. Quote

Nice work! I could have made your life 8000x easier though! Be careful with copying stuff like that, that design is © Quote

I like the idea of you doing your own, and it will look trick. but JD is right about the Quote
CBAIER1206 Posted January 13, 2009 Author Report Posted January 13, 2009 Thanks for the props! Like I mentioned in my first post, I gave props to banshee_bandit because thats where I saw the grill. I couldn't find it anywhere on the net yet I really liked the design and part of my love for this hobby is doing things myself so I whipped it up in a matter of about 20 minutes or so. My intent was not to re-distribute to others for a profit, or even for free. My intent was merely to illustrate to others that with a little elbow grease, using the method that I used...one can do it themselves and maybe create something totally unique. I just chose that particular design because I liked it. I thank you for your offer to do that for me, but as I stated, my love for this hobby, besides riding of course, is fabbing the parts myself and knowing that I created something! Quote
banshee_terror_ Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 thats sick u did that peaple are just haters Quote
boneyardbanshee. Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Great job man. I have the Irate design. Always get compliments on it. I love to fab. my own shit too. I added a removable screen behind that to keep the mud out of my rad. If it gets to dirty I just take my shroud off, remove the screen and wash it off in a creek. I wouldnt worry about the copyright. For one if you are not gonna sell them you ant get in trouble. Two, all you have to do is change an item slightly(wich you have) and it is no longer the same product design. Keep up the good fab work. Quote
1996dragshee Posted January 14, 2009 Report Posted January 14, 2009 Had JD make me a custom irate design grill for my girl..worth every penny. I actually thought that was part of the grill,i mean i didn't realize that that was the white cardboard lol..i think that white deal looks sweet with them white plastics imo Quote
CBAIER1206 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks, more to come... Quote
