drap660 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 How do you guys feel about this Alba shift cam? Has anyone used it? http://store.albaaction.com/shop/BAN-SHIFT-CAM.html Quote
BellicoseBanshee Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I use a shift cam with the bearing modification. Trinity sells the same thing for $129.99, and it has been fine for me. Alba's $149.99 is not such a crazy, low price after all! Quote
Snopczynski Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I put one in my best friends bike. It works, we dont have problems with it. Quote

BellicoseBanshee Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 what do you mean by bearing mod? The stator side of the shift cam is machined down, and a bearing is installed. The shift cam will have a bearing on each end just like it should have had from the factory. The modification is not going to be the fix all, solve all of transmission/shifting problems, but it does allow the shift cam to spin very easily... EDIT: The modified shift cam, modified shift star, and modified shift shaft will be a huge improvement in transmission performance (assuming things are not worn or damaged) over stock. You do not necessarily need the shift pro modification. I would inspect the shift adjust bolt and replace it if necessary while the basket is removed... Quote

Easy to do if you have access to a lathe. Along with the other tranny modes I have done it does make a nice difference though. $150 is a crazy ass price though. Is that for the shift drum or do they want yours as a core? SP Quote
