devin4491 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 im not just getting into drag racing.. im just getting o banshees lol. i weigh like 140. so a few people down here get me to jocky sometimes lol. but i dont want an override, its just a pain in the ass.. i rode a honda 565r (bored and stroked 450r) beast bike for a four stroke makes like mid 80's on a small shot of nos.. and he has a 1-5 override and it was a pain in the arse... id rather just shift.. and get into that tranny crap later Quote
sheefreak Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 didn't know he was starting from scratch.but lets see...stock cases..200 stock crank true and welded..200 tranny(override)..350 cubs w/pistons plated and polished..500 over sized carbs..250 pipes(cpi-shearer-inframe or out)..300 total-1800 of course this is all used stuff and you would still have to buy a few other thing, but will have all the main stuff. if you cant find these prices your looking in all the wrong places!!! Clutch setup Head? Kicker gear shift shaft etc. And how often do you find a ready run cub and set of pistons for $500? I am not trying to discourage the kid, but inform him of what he is getting into. Trading his R1 for a running motor is a much better start. He can then upgrade as he can afford it and eventually have a drag motor. Quote

dajogejr Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 You rarely, RARELY find a used cub ready to go for 500 dollars, let alone with pistons. I'm on the forums, I'm on ebay, I'm on craigslist...that's a rarity. By the time he waits for that deal, he could save for more. If you're serious about getting into drag racing banshees, get an override tranny and a lockup for the clutch. There is no other way... If you think they're a PITA, you either got a poorly cut one....or...a poorly cut one. A dunable override is the best thing since sliced bread!! Quote
Bansh-eman Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 And how often do you find a ready run cub and set of pistons for $500? I was wondering the same thing. The only way your getting a cub with pistons that cheap is that the pistons seized in the motor and you need to get the jugs re-niked. Quote

tony cub Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 lol he did just back that up.. this guy usally has about 50 sets on hand...when i need a part reeds,pistons,cubs,carbs..i sit on this thing and spend hours surfing looking for a good deal..i rather spend 2 or 3 hours on here then pay 100-150 extra for reeds.i laugh when i see people tring to sell a cub for $800 or a set of used reeds for $200("used for one season").if you want a drag motor and are short on cash,it takes time, but do it right the first time..sit on all these forums and look for a deal and youll get what you want.if you rush into things your not going to be happy. dajogejr Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) lol he did just back that up.. Sure as hell did.... Must be some Miami Crack heads that need to sell their bikes for dope money....LOL.... All that guy is doing is selling them for cost. He probably buys in bulk to get the dealer pricing, makes a few bucks selling items, then gets rid of the last of it at cost to move it off his shelf. A lot of people in this economy are doing just that....selling at dealer cost just to move product off the shelf. Edited January 8, 2009 by dajogejr Quote
