shanYE west Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Ok i know this isnt much... but i need to build an engine for 1600.. the entire engine, i dont have one thing.. so a ground up build for $1600.. what do you guys suggest? You can get a stock motor off ebay for around 800... have the cylinders ported, crankd trued welded, reeds and you might beable to squeeze a set of carbs out of it... i think that would probabaly about take up the 1600. KaosBanshee44 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I got a complete motor ready to run for 800 bucks plus shipping if your interested. http://www.southeasttexas.com/classifieds/...mp;type=general Quote
sheefreak Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Squeezing pipes and carbs into a drag motor budget of 1600 is tough. Quote
shanYE west Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Squeezing pipes and carbs into a drag motor budget of 1600 is tough. eww.. good point Damien.. I forgot the pipes... Quote
dajogejr Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Can be done...but, by the time you wait for the steals you're gonna need to find with that budget, you could save more money. Drag porting isn't cheap, nor is bigger carbs or pipes. What about a beefier clutch, lockup and override? Quote
kubitza123 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Theres a guy on ebay selling a complete 4mill with drag port by JEFF at FAST with lockup, overide trans, lectrons, most everything polished etc for $2000 BUY IT NOW i would jump on that if you can its a steal and ready to run other than pipes borrow the orther $400 from a friend or something. Its not listed as buy it now but in the deascription it said to contact him and he would sell it for that. Just a thought Quote
tony cub Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 i would build a 392..stock crank with a cub.and you would still have cash to buy carbs and pipes. Quote
sheefreak Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 One thing to keep in mind is this young man is starting from scratch. No motor, nothing... I would like to know how to build even a stock stroke cub w/pipes carbs that actually shifts and doesn't eat clutches left and right for $1600 from scratch??? Quote
njbanshee Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Good luck on this build. Do it right or don't do it. Quote

I would like to know how to build even a stock stroke cub w/pipes carbs that actually shifts and doesn't eat clutches left and right for $1600 from scratch??? lol wait... i think i mightve found someone to trade me a fresh stock engine for my r1 engine... lol i know its hard to do it. but i dont have any where near 2k or even 1600 right now.. i was waiting i sold my r1 engine and then i woulda had around 1600.. but now i think i might get a trade fr it.. so idk Quote
devin4491 Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 oh and i wasnt including pipes in that 1600.. Quote
banshee332 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 If I was just getting started in the drag racing I would jump on this. Killer deal and clean ass looking motor drag motor Quote
dajogejr Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 If this is a new guy, I'd ditch that 6 speed override. That's a whoops waiting to happen...otherwise, depending on what the reserve is, that's a stout package. Unless it's a dunable 1-6...which, costs more than he's asking for the motor right now so I doubt it... Quote
