bugnut Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Is there a general rule of thumb for how many paddles on a tire vs hp. I am looking into some new tires for my new found power thanks to moneybags. I got his 421 cub and now I am in need of some tires for the dunes. I couldn't find where 100hp would require x amount of paddles for dune riding or drag racing. For now with my bike I am just going to hit the dunes and some hill shooting, nothing to special. Should I be looking for 8, 9 or 10 paddle. Rider only weighs 150lbs Quote
wacko2000 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 150ibs with 100hp, You better hit the Gym and work on those forearms....lol Good luck with the tire setup Quote
wesw Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 paddles are a bitch to just say you will need this or that. the sand condition changes almost ever time you go there. so lot of variables. for trails i would say 10 paddles for dragging 13 -14 paddle extreme but everyone has different options. too much paddle kills your top end but not enough you just spin. so its like find some one with some decent paddles and see if you can borrow them would be the easiest way and go from there. firebanshee Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 The lenght of your swing arm also depends on your paddle selection. Quote
FireHead Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 The lenght of your swing arm also depends on your paddle selection. ..........as does the circumference of the tire. :geek: Quote
bugnut Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Right now I have the stock swinger. That should make for one wild ride if I get some traction. I saw some 10 paddles in the sale section. I think for now I would want some more spin then bite untill I get a longer swing arm. Quote
sheefreak Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 If you have a stock swinger you need like a six paddle....maybe rear smoothies LOL. Seriously your front wheels will never touch the ground w/an 8 paddle. Quote
moneybags Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I would get some 22-11-8 10 paddle haulers. I was running 11 paddle extreems 74.5 inch RO with a +8 swingarm. It was alittle over paddled for the places I ride. Maby some Affleck insurance to if you plan to run a stock swingarm. lol Quote
rubberneck Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I have 22/11/8 9 paddle haulers on my 421 with a +2 swingarm. It would probably be better with an 8 paddle. I just picked up some 21/12/8 9 paddles, and i cant wait to try them. I think they well be better for the type of riding im doing. i would say 2-4 inch arm get some 8 or 9 paddles, anything longer than that i dont have any experience, so listen to the other guys. Quote
deckheight Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 LOL! Do they have a policy with zero deductable and a death benefit??? Maby some Affleck insurance to if you plan to run a stock swingarm. lol Quote
bugnut Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 Sounds like I better keep my 8 paddles on then. Don't want to try out my health insurance just yet Get some 10's when I get a longer swing arm Quote
C&B Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 10s when you get a longer swinger... BTW I have a JJ&A plus4...... Quote
