I have seen several similar posts to this, but this is very strange.

I have nothing coming from my right side tail pipe at idle and at times not even when it's revved. The left tail pipe gets hot several minutes before the right side even gets warm.

Now for the strange part.... This is a complete engine assembly that I just installed a week ago, the old engine was doing the exact same thing! I tried new spark plugs, that wasn't the problem. Then I tried swapping the plug wires, still the same problem.

Does anyone have any ideas of what I should look for? I mean this has to be an engine/carb issue, and by the way these are new carbs too. Given the fact that I swapped the plug wires and still had the same issue, it can't be a spark problem.

HELP!!

I had a buddy of mine sync and tune them for me, he's a lot better with carbs than I am, I'm assuming its right.

Have you checked the reeds? Are you using the same reeds you did on the last motor?

this may be a stupid ? but do u have enough gas in it mine does the same thing when the gas gets low and as soon as i put it on reserve or fill the tank back up it stops it also you may wana check that the correct float bowl is on the correct carb that couls cause it too

I would do a compression check.

I would do a compression check.

Since you have the same problem you did on the last motor and you have a set of used reeds i waouold da what firebanshee said and do a compression test and check those reeds also.

Ya, my old motor was doing the same thing and when I tore it down to part it out, the piston, rings and cylinder looked perfect. I will check the compression on it anyway and look at the reeds. How can you tell if the reeds need replaced? It seems like I read somewhere that the V Force reeds can be installed with one side up for top end and the other side up for bottom end, is this accurate?

Thanks for all the help guys!!!!

well now that we know ur runnin alky it helps a little i remember reading on here somewere i believe that some people kinda rig the carbs for alky by cuttin 1 side of the float off or somethin or another im sure one of the big time guys knows a lil better and can help explaine more but i bet the float is set too low or is hanging up and the motors suckin the bowl dry and thats y that one cyl is shutting down basicly kinda what i said at first about maken sure u have enough fuel in it hope that helps and someone that knows more bout the alky stuff can help more on that end

These carbs were pulled off of a great running shee and put immediately on mine. I actually have raw alcohol(so I know its getting alky) and some smoke coming out of the right tail pipe, just nothing even close to what the left pipe is doing.

check your pickup gap on both sides of the flywheel and get that comp check

Bought the motor from a pretty reputable guy, he sells a lot of stuff on here and he said everything was tight. I'm trying to come up with a compression tester, I'll let you guys know what I come up with there.
