ok so i got real bored and curious as to what kit and mods my shee actually has so i ripped it to bits today to have a good nosey at everything and check the ports and liners and stuff. the barrels do have the paul turner logo ectched in and the word NATIONAL underneath and the ports do look quite aggressive compared to standard, the workmanship also looks very good. all the liners and skirts all look in good shape too. it has 36mm kiehin pwk's, duncan billet manifolds with velocity spiltters. it has the full fmf fatty gold series too BUT what surprised me the most was when i took the reed cages out they were STANDARD now is it just me or does that seem a tad stooopid? wont they be holding all the power back? their not even ported. it also had a 15t front sprocket on which for a mx quad seems a bit high. expialns why all the power was top endy

any thoughts??

oh yeah i forgot to add the stator only has one half of the windings. i take it this is a race stator then and the missing windings would be for lights?

yeah no windings means no lights. and it seems like a pieced together bike. id start putting her back together with good parts IE diff pipes and ig its MX those carbs are WAYYY to big if you have an MX port just find out what the port is and build back up from there.

not quite sure on what kind of port it is yet. ive been looking at some port jobs on ebay and it looks quite aggressive compared to most although in comparison to most it does look very clean and well done it also has some extra boost ports at the sides as well. ile post sopme pics up later see what you guys think.

Pictures don't mean anything.

That does look like a nice, clean, symetrical port on the intake side, but the MOST important number are ones you can't see with the eye, it has to be measured.

The size, shape and height of your ports is where the power and power type is. And we're talking a mm here or there, you're not seeing that with the naked eye....

Stock cages do very well...unless you're all out drag racing, I say you stick with them. Get a good set of aftermarket reeds (if you don't already have them) and maybe get the stockers ported (clean up/smooth out)

Nothing wrong with FMF pipes. The carbs may be a tad big if you're gonna MX/Trail the bike....but, the package should work.

I would cc the head or domes to see where they are, measure the piston to wall clearance, ring end gap...and while you're at it...to be honest, split the cases and have the crank trued/welded if that's not already done. Splitting cases doesn't cost any money, just a tube of Yamabond 4 to seal them up. Just takes time...
