dragbanshee Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Lost a few due to non shifting bike, and I do know how to shift, lol. 1st race 700 rappy piped and 450r piped and jetted, I walked on them no prob! 2nd race pretty even till 4th and I walked away again, it was amazing how hard it was pulling in 4th to walk away like it did. The ground was so hard packed up in the mountains of Tenn. place called Brimstone, no traction at all for the banshee but still held its own, till the dreaded shifting problems. Every race came down to neck in neck with the 700 and another heavily modded yfz450 and my banshee, not shifting out of 4th gear. Man, what a let down, I just knew I could take em if I could only get it to shift properly. So is the modded shift star and the shift rod along with the lighter spring really worth the time? I would have thought the spring was too weak, wore out, keeping the shifter from springing back for the next shift, tried to explain that right! Anyway its an all new clutch system with no problems finding neutral or shifting under normal conditions. Im going to be meeting up with these guys again and I want to show them the full pontential of my all bolt on banshee. Any info on these mods is really appreciated, thanks! Quote
RUDEDAWG Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 I run the shift pro and modded shift star from cascade. They dramatically changed the way my bike shifts. The only downside is it is really easy to down shift if you accidentally bump the shifter down with your foot. All in all I like it! Quote

RUDEDAWG Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 No, it is the roller assy. that rides on the shift star and also has a lighter tension spring. Quote
1996dragshee Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 i had the same prob when i had my bolt on set up.im not sure what the difference just the star would make but ill tell ya what, when i tore my motor down and did an overhaul i put in an override with the shift star and all..that was the best investment for racing i did honestly. if i was you i would spend the bucks and get a dunable override bro Quote

slowblueshee2 Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 I had all three of the shifter goodies, shift cam with bearing, star and shift pro. and like was stated previously is would shift way too easy like accidental bumping. I ended removing and star and when back to a standard star but still run the shift cam and shift pro. I couldn't be a happier camper. Really positive but no overly soft. Hardly ever miss a shift now. dragbanshee Posted November 29, 2008 Author Report Posted November 29, 2008 Thanks guys, thats a very frustrating thing to happen when you know your bike can take em. Quote
dragbanshee Posted November 30, 2008 Author Report Posted November 30, 2008 duneable override. If these other mods dont help, then that will definately be next. Quote
sheerider1026 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 yea i know also. its a bitch!! when i got my cub motor together it wouldn't shift under hard acceleration.. i put the shift star ( i cut myself) and the shift pro kit.. much easier to shift, but an overide would be sweet!! it still decides not to shift every once in a while.. the more power you make, the harder it gets to shift.. a lockout and overide is the cure.. sheefreak Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 A modded shift star and whatever else you want to throw at it doesn't hold a candle to an override. Quote
dajogejr Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 a lockout and overide is the cure.. Word... The only bad thing about a lockup and override is it truly ruins every other bike you ride going forward... It's like banging Marissa Miller for a year, then going back to Rosie ODonnel.... Quote
