locogato11283 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Word... The only bad thing about a lockup and override is it truly ruins every other bike you ride going forward... It's like banging Marissa Miller for a year, then going back to Rosie ODonnel.... thats true. i would never go back to a stock tranny. even if i was to build a play banshee, itd have a duneable in it. theres no reason not to. if youre building any power at all the lockout is a must.. then you wont be able to shift so the duneable is a must.. personally, i wouldnt waste my time and money on the other shift mods.. id just do the duneable and be done with it. dragbanshee Posted December 1, 2008 Author Report Posted December 1, 2008 I found this post on here and I still ride flat trac and trails so is this not a good idea: http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?...ifting+upgrades Quote
Badapwned Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 I had all three of the shifter goodies, shift cam with bearing, star and shift pro. and like was stated previously is would shift way too easy like accidental bumping. I ended removing and star and when back to a standard star but still run the shift cam and shift pro. I couldn't be a happier camper. Really positive but no overly soft. Hardly ever miss a shift now. Do you have to tear the motor down completely for all three mods? Or can you just pull the clutch? Quote
Hilarious Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Do you have to tear the motor down completely for all three mods? Is there a way to cut down on the travel distance for a shift? On my CR250, I barely have to move the shifter with my toes, on the shee I practically have to pick my foot off the peg. Is there a easy to cut down on travel distance besides making the shifter lever shorter? Quote

dajogejr Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 You're taking a competition style dirt bike that gets refined a bit every year, year after year. Then a 20 plus year old design that gets new graphics every year... There is just more money in R&D for the CR, period. What you can do is buy an adjustable shifter, that can move the shift nub closer to the peg. That will cut down on "some" of the travel. A banshee doesn't have nor will it ever have the technology a CR has...or any two wheeled competition bike, two or 4 stroke. I'd bet there are 100 bikes sold for every banshee sold/ridden today. Its a fun bike with lots of go... Just imagine if they HAD put the same R&D into the shee, direct injection, so on and so forth. Damn... Seems as if Yamaha is trying to kill it....... Have you ever heard of people moving the foot peg back to where it actually bolts to the frame as opposed how it sits like 2 or 3 inches forward. This would allow the shift lever to be cut down so the travel distance is significantly reduced. Quote
dragbanshee Posted December 2, 2008 Author Report Posted December 2, 2008 Debating on wether or not to get aftermarket shifter, don't know if it would work any better or not. Quote
RIPPEN Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 For the longest time I have heard that the dunables are great but arn't really intended for anything other than draging.. I heard that they don't hold up to "playing" that well.. Dave, Tyler, you guys saying thats a myth? If so damn you both as now I gotta get one-lol... RIPPEN Quote

Iam not just delusional.. Atleast not totaly.. lol I have heard those kinda claims for quite sometime but wasn't sure if something has changed in them.. I know they can take SOME backload but to recomend them for anything other than drag Iam kinda suprised.. Dave, teach us brotha. Loco, if I wanna know where to get a tan, Ill ask you... RIPPEN Quote
dajogejr Posted December 2, 2008 Report Posted December 2, 2008 Unless you plan on winding them all the way out in 4th and 5th gear, letting off the gas at max RPMs and letting the motor slow the bike down, it'll last you for a LONG time. Using the engine to decelerate the bike repeatedly at high RPMs will wear the shift forks faster, that's right from Whitaker...who cuts more trannies than anyone.... I don't have a duner bike, mine is strictly drag. But I'd have no qualms about building a duner with that tranny. 1-5 N down is the way to go...most versatile for duning and drag racing. Quote

Interesting stuff man.. If the thats straight from the guy Iam not sure who can argue that.. Damn money pit-lol So you have seen my vids Dave, RPMed to shit and having to get in and outta the throttle ALOT.. Think it would hold up to that even? Forgive me, this is just a 180 of what everyone has said for so long.. RIPPEN Quote
