Which swing arm set up works best for drag racing out in the sand dunes a link style or a no link style.I currently run a link style and have never tried the no link style does any one have any input on this that has ran both ? thanks.

I like a link setup myself. The link will help to absorb the whoops alot more then a non link. If your riding on a groomed track thats flat go with a non link setup, but if your in the dunes or anywhere it isnt groomed for racing like a track is, I persoally would stick to a link. It's all personal prefferance. I know a few guys that have no links and love them. Keep in mind on a stock frame with a no link swiger the geometry sucks for the rear shock becasue the angle.

Unless it's VERY whooped out....no link.

You setup your shock different for a no link, that's all. There is more direct pressure on it, so it must be adjusted appropriately...

All the guys I run with, small and big motor, stock and aftermarket chassis...run no link in the dunes, and it can get pretty whooped up.

Keep the links for the duners and trail bikes....considering you have a 12 over arm...duning and trails do NOT apply....

I like the way the weight transfers with the no link...and it looks better. BUT if you already have a link set up, I wouldn't go through the trouble of buying a new swingarm and shock, just to change it. I have a link on my 421 and no link on my 392.

The linkage just gives the shock a better progressive rate... Hence the stock rear shock is a single rate spring. As long as the shock is setup properly for the setup you choose.. they both work fine. IMO the progressive rate that the link provides doesn't affect the drag bikes much. Most of the bikes with the long swingarms only use 12-12.5" shocks.. which only have about 4-6" of travel.

So my vote goes to a no-link setup unless your swingarm is already a link style. (I've used both in the dunes) Like J-madd said, Its not worth spending the extra money to go to a no-link if you arleady have a swinger and shock setup for a link.

I want to thank you guys for the input,i do allready have a link style arm so i think i will stick with it for now.Can you put a solid strut in a link style when you are at a groomed track? My rear shock measures 11.5 eye to eye.
