adam3143 Posted October 10, 2008 Report Posted October 10, 2008 Hey everyone, I just installed a new 35mm CV Carb from Trinity Racing and I'm having some problems. The shee runs fine with the choke on, but as soon as its off, its bogs and dies. The carb has a 190 main and 52 pilot jet. My only mods are T5 pipes and Boyeson reeds with airbox removed running K&N pod filter. I'm new to do-it-yourself mods, so any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I'm right around sea level, if that helps. Quote

adam3143 Posted October 10, 2008 Author Report Posted October 10, 2008 The carb came with the DEK needle. I've got the air screw at 1.5 turns and the clip is in the middle notch, thats how it was set up when i got it. Quote

bansheesickness Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 this may be a stupid question, but have you tryed turning the idel screw in? you may have to take the lilttle spring off the screw and chop it down a tad if you cant get enough addjustment. i have 3 different shees with the 2 into 1 setup. one has toomies, 190 main, 50 pilot, cel needle, i used to run a dek. but the ridder of this bike fouled the plug allot, so i went with a leaner needle. the air screw 1.5 turns out. and thats jetted for sea level too. Snopczynski Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 If you cant get the screw to adjust enough, your supposed to change out the pilot jet. How many gaskets do you have installed on the intake? This sounds like a possible air leak between the motor and the carb. Quote

adam3143 Posted October 11, 2008 Author Report Posted October 11, 2008 There's a gasket on each side where the intake meets the reed cages and two more were used as replacements when I pulled the reeds to check them. That's how the instructions that came from Trinity said to do it, but should it be different? I haven't messed with the idle screw at all, I'll take a look at it tomorrow. Quote

There should be 4 gaskets total. Whats the float height set at? Quote
jeepman380 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I had a 2 into 1 on my 4mm play port and with like a 48 or 50 pilot I think it's been so long ago i don't really remember but that was plenty of pilot so i don't think it's lean. I would try the idle screw in some more and mess with your air screw. When you get it to idle better turn the air screw in or out which ever way it will idle smoother and that will tell you if you need to change your pilot richer or leaner. Quote
