OKCterror Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I got this bike from a custom builder awhile back and did some minor stuff to it since ive had it. I just noticed today that my overflow bottle on the back of the chasis is gone and no tubes run from the radiator to it. there is one tube off the neck of the radiator thats hangs down that im assuming is an overflow tube. There is a bigger cap on the rad and it goes down about 1 1/2" into the top of the neck. Anyone heard of someone doing this before. I always check the coolant now and its always full so i know i have no leaks, but now i also know i have no overflow bottle.lol. Quote
hercalmighty Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Dont worry about the overflow bottle. Everybody takes it off and just let the tube hang. No worries man  Quote
OKCterror Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 thank the shee gods then. I noticed it and was like oh shit, i just came back from the dunes.lol. Quote
downNdirty Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 No need for it. As long as you check your fluid. Like you say do, your fine. Quote
OKCterror Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 what kind of antifreeze are you guys using and does a billet impeller really work better Quote
downNdirty Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 I just use the 50/50 premix stuff yamaha makes. When I bought it I didnt know much about the Bike. This winter when I tear my bike apart I'll be using that engine ice. The billet ones are good they do work just make sure you buy the pro design one. its about 80 bucks Cant beat there quality over the others. Quote
OKCterror Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 is it a must have for a semi built eng Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Coolant = Engine Ice Billet Impeller > Stock Plastic One Plastic Impeller = Breaks like a bitch Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 And you don't need the overflow container as stated above. Quote
LiftdT4R Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Got the idea from diffrentstrokes, but I run the tube that used to go to the coolant overflow up to the bars. That way I can see if the bike is getting too hot. Check out the left side of the bars in the pics below, you can kinda see it zip tied to the hand guards. Woks good so far, a lot of people remove the coolant overflow Quote
locogato11283 Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 ive thrown many coolant overflows in the trash.. Quote
jharader Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Think im the only one that prefers they be on there.. at a glance i can see if my shits low, and with laker plastic that means ALOT. pain in the ass to take off n put on just to check coolant. all good eitherway have a couple with one without  Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I personally have mine still. I don't know if I'm going to take it off or not... I may just throw it where the air box was (once I take it out.) Idk yet. Quote
