Cable Oiling

Just like is says... What are you guys using to oil your cables? I tried to do a seach but nothing came up but was reading a while ago on someone was oiling their cables like every 6 months and it made them feel like new. I would think like a silicone base product, white lithium grease or graphite lubricant? Just trying to find out what works the best.

i use automatic tranny fluid. its sliperyer then snot and works great. just take cable off bike and pour a little on the cable until it comes cleanly out the other side. it will be black at first.

I've been using the doohickey that clamps on the cable and the spray lube as listed above. How do you get the tranny fluid all the way through the cable? Just pour on a little and work the cable back and forth and repeat?

I have one of those by tusk, it works beautiful use to take 15-20lbs to pull my clutch after 5lbs

I just take the cable off from the lever and stick the end in a funnel then duct tape around the bottom and pour the fluid in and let it sit. It will work its way down.

I like your thinking...Just tape it up and pour the fluid and come back in about an hour...I like that. :biggrin: Leaves more time for watching Football :thumbsup:

If you pull the inner cable back and forth the fluid goes in faster. But that is what I usually do.
