  1. So how many people actually showed up? Our group, 4 rails, 2 Shees and 3 400exs, were at Glamis for the weekend. Bitchin weather, sand was hard from all the rain, everything hooked up big time. We are going to Gordons this coming weekend. That sucks when people say they will come and then not show up.
  2. Hey guys, At Glamis this weekend, I noticed I am getting some oil coming out of the seal that goes around the shifter shaft that goes into the engine. I thought I have read that these aren't too hard to replace. Any ideas on how to get it fixed? We are going back to the dunes next weekend and I want to be able to take my bike. Thanks
  3. Sweet. Thx guys. I kept it in my garage in a sealed gas can. Never saw sunlight and never got hot. I will make sure it is mixed up good before I ride.
  4. Hey guys, I have some Race gas mixed 50/50 with Premium. I bought it in July. What do you think, still good?
  5. Depends on what part of the valley you are coming from. If you are south of I10, Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, you take I10 South and take the exit for Maricopa. Just before Maricopa, turn right on highway 238, this will dump you in Gila Bend. Follow the signs to get on I8 towards Yuma. Stay on I8 until you see the exit for Gordons Well, about 30miles West of Yuma. If you are in Phoenix, or the West Valley, take I10 towards LA, then take the exit for Gila Bend. Once you get to Gila Bend, the directions are the same as above.
  6. Lucky lucky lucky. I envy you guys that live less than an hour from the dunes. I have at least a 2.5 and up to almost 4 hours. Its all worth it though. Dude, it is 3 hours from my house. I don't care, we go twice a month anyway. Will be at Glamis on the 14th, Gordons on the 21 and back to Buttercup for Turkey Day. Then back to Buttercup on Dec 19th.
  7. Holy Crap dude. Your avatar is sweeeeetttttt.
  8. It means have you gotten in trouble there and not allowed to come back in? You need a fake id to buy beer if you are under 21. Food there is great, we do lunch there on Saturday every trip. $5 will get you a burger fries and a drink.
  9. Hey there Lefty, I have a buddy that wants to come with me to the dunes but doesn't have a quad yet. He wants to rent one and try it before buying. Do you know of anywhere that rents them down there? Figured it would be better than having to rent one up here and haul it down there. Thanks for the help. Lincster
  10. If you are asking where the choke tube is, then it has come off and you probably have lost it. It probably fell when you push started it. Get a Clymers and look at a pix.
  11. It might be. I do run 50/50 race/pump gas with my setup and I don't have the advanced timing. Although 150psi compression is supposed to be ok with pump gas.
  12. Here is where I go the other way. I have almost the exact same setup except with 2:1 air filter. I just put in 370s and it runs awesome at 1200' in Phoenix Az, so it will probably run better at Glamis as the weather gets cooler. Alot of people are afraid to jet big, but keep going up until it stumbles at WOT, they you are too big. If it ran great at 340s and then like crap after the plate, then it is not the jetting. Also, you were on the right track, it temp dropped 30 degrees, you need to go up on the mains. JMO Don't forget, a bike will run very crisp when it is lean, just not for long.
  13. If anyone wants to move, me and about 5 other toyhaulers full of people will be at Glamis. Sandobsession.com will be there video taping my buddies new rail for a video and calender they are putting together. Should be pretty crazy. Major air coming from the rails.
  14. I visit www.thedieselstop.com quite often. So I was hanging there.
  15. It really does matter what type of riding you will be doing. Let us know.
  16. Thanks Lefty, that calms the nerves. I can't wait for dune season!!! Little story, we were taking a family trip this summer to Sea World and as we drove by the dunes, I said "that looks like Heaven". The other day, my 6 year old said "Mom, I can't wait to go to Heaven". My wife thought it was cute and he wanted to go see his great grandma in heaven. He said "No Mom, I can't wait to go back to the dunes!" Funniest shit I have heard come out of his mouth. Thats my boy.
  17. We usually eat in Gila Bend at a Mexican joint on the way down there on Friday, eat lunch at Pair A Dice on Saturday, each his own on Saturday night. How many people are going to be tenting it and how many with trailers? We had better rope off a big area whoever gets down there first. I can probably be there by 3 on Friday. I have about 400' of Caution Tape I can use.
  18. Stan, Hate to tell you this, but we are going to Gordons Well, that is on the South side of the dune range. Not camping at Glamis. We are you coming from? I believe you will have to go South thru Lake Powell/Flagstaff highways. Then through Phoenix and to Yuma. Long trip for you.
  19. My buddy duned hard with his +6 swingarm. Just gotta know how to ride your machine. He always led also, that should tell ya something. Try and keep up Junior. You will smoke me on the hill, but its all good.
  20. Is anybody else going to bring their kids? We usually bring ours. He is 6 and rides a littler Polaris 50. Just wanted to know if it is going to be a booze fest.
  21. Hill Shooting, Dragging..... Lets see you dune and keep up. When me and my buddies dune, we are 5th and 6th gear wide open all the time. Try and keep up Junior.
  22. I would prefer Buttercup, thats my 1 vote up there. BUTTTT, it doesn't matter to me. I'm game. If it is at Gordons, just not to far down, I hate getting stuck. Don't forget to make room for me. 8) This is my setup, and there will be 2 other trailers just as big or bigger, 5th wheels!!!
  23. Halloween is good for checking out crazy stuff, but riding sucks. Too many people and sand is rough. I will be at Buttercup, just west of Midway, October 24th and then again on November 7th. We usually make it every 2 weeks like clockwork. Going to try and make it 3 times a month this next season. Gotta love living close.
  24. Do you have the K&Ns back on? I would go to a 27.5 pilot at that elevation and air screws between 1.5 and 2 turns out. Make sure your mains are back at 280 or 285. That sounds about right on the mains for that elevation. Only take 1 carb apart at a time, that way you don't risk the chance of switching something.
  25. Did you rejet after ditching the air box? I don't care what your elevation is, you should have rejetted to compensate for more air by going to the K&Ns. It probably won't start because you are too lean on the pilots/airscrews. Did it run fine before you ditched the air box?
