  1. I've stripped my bike twice now. Once in the winter, and once a week after I totalled it and was still hobbling around on sprainged ankles and black and blue knees, and it was still one of the funnest things I've done with my banshee. The second time it took me over 8 hours to strip it because it hurt to move. I would love to get to the point where every 2 years I could do a frame off rebuild, and just once I'd like to strip the parts off my frame and put them onto a brand new frame sitting right beside it.
  2. you mean yo dont have a fridge in your garage?!?!? GASP! where do you get cold beer when youre mowing the lawn? hey CEJ, about them stainles fasteners. are they stronger than grade 5's, or no? i hear some different things and since you mentioned them. also my fav thing to do is get my damn PD head to seal up right. Stainless isn't any stronger than mild steel, its just more abrasive when I'm trying to cut it.
  3. I think if you used the stock silencers it would be quieter, but if you have Toomey silencers you can get the Toomey Hush kit that was made to appease the people that bitch about the noise at a few select riding spots. I guess it brings the dB level to nearly stock. I've heard from some people that they can almost hear they're engine noise more than the exhaust noise. I started mine in the shop last week with straight stingers, no silencers and I had a headache in about 2 minutes, and I wasn't being blasted direct with the exhaust, I was up in front of the bike.
  4. Just about anything. I love replacing bearings, swapping out junk Yamaha fasteners for stainless or even a grade 5 bolt. I like to put washers behind them as well. I almost always have something going on with my banshee as well since its parked at the shop. I like to tinker with shit you could say. One thing I HATE to do is adjust my needle height. Last time I did it was over 45 minutes.
  5. You'll get made fun of or laughed at. No girls will want to ride on the back of your banshee either.
  6. "HEY WHAT'D I DO?" lol I also liked the YEEEHAWWW!!! That Dean always insisted on doing.
  7. LMFAO This land is our land.
  8. That would be "feather the clutch"
  9. The main thing I've looked at is how straight the rear axle is, the front spindles and if any tie rods are bent. This would indicate either severe abuse or a wreck. If its wrecked you might want to check the a arms to see if they are bent, etc. Preventative maintainence would be washing your banshee....keeping it clean and shit free will not only help prevent some problems, but will also facillitate finding problems when they occur much easier. You'll want to pull a plug if you change elevations where you ride, and also check to see if its fouled. Also, since the clutch is a wet clutch you'll want to change the tranny oil about every 10 rides or so. Thats just my schedule....yours may vary. Just don't put any oil in the tranny with the term FRICTION MODIFYING or ENERGY CONSERVING on the bottle. I mix any TCW-3 2 stroke oil at 40:1. I'm not running a powerhouse yet, so I'm not too picky. If I were to start running a fire breathing drag engine I think I'd be inclined to run synthetic 2 stroke oil. Did you get a good deal on your banshees? I have a chance right now to pick one up at a great deal, but I'm kinda hesitant because I already have a dozen other projects going.
  10. I used to have a rule about "if I'm not going any faster than 1st gear" until one day the clutch lever slipped out of my hand. It bucked me, not very hard, but it let me know how quickly things can get out of hand. They can get out of hand "Simpsons" quick somedays.
  11. Open an account for her. Only make her name "," or "^" or something to keep the theme of unpronounceable screen names going. How about "
  12. me too...I knew it wasn't like him though to pop off a post like that. We need to get a "wife lock" for the HQ, seems like this is becoming a more frequent thing LOL Log that shit out. Not that I'm hiding anything, as I have nothing to hide. If my ol lady wants to post here she'll have to get her own damned screen name. Last thing I need is MY screen name asking some bizzare question or statement.
  13. I usually just reach down with my right hand (its a bit of a stretch!) and lift up on the shift lever.
  14. Thats so odd.... The wife logs on under the husbands name and I get all confused until the end. I was thinking for a minute he was having some sort of episode. Like a battle of his conciousness or something.
  15. I agree. I'm gonna go to the gym and when I get back I might check out that tattoo thread to see if Brooke has caved in to the demands of a few.
  16. WTF is a pingle ??
  17. Thats the answer I was going to give. If you consume a lot of caffiene (even exessive amounts of spinach will do it) it will drive the calcium out of your body, and the kidneys try to filter it. I drink a lot of coffee, but I also try to keep the water uptake high as well. I have no desire to piss gravel.
  18. They aren't noisey with the stock pipes, I haven't ran the stock silencers with the Toomeys yet, but I can always get Toomeys hush kit. It was designed to shut people up that like to bitch that 2 strokes are noisey, and now those people can ride on dunes such as Oregon, and Sliver Lake where houses are near. Even though people have probably been riding on the dunes much longer than the houses have been there, they still find it neccesary to bitch. The Toomey hush kit is metaphorically going around the mountain rather than trying to go through the mountain.
  19. 3rd degree burns are serious. I'm thinking that equates to the layers of skin burned away. Not 100% sure on that. **EDIT** found something hopefully its helpful http://www.burnsurvivor.com/burn_types_third.html **EDIT AGAIN** Hell heres the whole google search http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-...rd+degree+burns

  21. Theres also a little spacer on there isn't there?? I'll check tomorrow but for some reason I'm thinking there is either a spacer or a bushing that goes in that assembly somewhere. If there is, and its missing, that might be the problem. 1/4" is a long ways to be moving.
  22. I must admit, thats a pretty good reply !! yeah, he kinda owned you with that one meat. the creativity in this place is appauling. so what is gonna happen if willy c's wifey gets to be CEO of the clip empire? will she be polishing poles in the oval office? or is someone taking her out for dinner If Willey C's Wifey becomes the CEO of the paper clip company you better get your jack boots polished and your arm bands out.
  23. I was told .019, so your .015 to .020 should be right. There has to be some tolerance. If you wanted, you could use 4-5 sheets of paper as a guage. If I remember right a piece of paper is around .003-.004 thick.
  24. I run mine on reserve from time to time just so I know the gas and oil that has settled in that draw tube is getting flushed out every now and again. Don't know if its even neccesary but I don't want to click to reserve one day to have it plugged.
  25. How much are they asking for it? Sounds like its the stock adjustment, and not a roundhouse style.
