Serious Problems After Porting And Rebuild.....
azsandrat replied to KEVPOPPAPUMP's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Try putting the stock pilot jets in (25) and get rid of those needles. Stock is all you need. If its fluttering at low to mid its the needles. I had a set in a motor similar to yours and it works best with stock pilots and needles.Get the low to mid working right before you dial in the top end jetting. As for gearing I would us a 13 front and a 40 rear for Glamis. When tuning a carb you start with the idle and work up. The air screws are for idle. Turn then in and it richens it up, out just the opp. The needle is for 1/4 to 3/4 and the main jets for WOT. My guess would be stock pilots, stock needles and around 360 for a main to start. Do yourself a favor and pitch the needles first before you start tuning. I have a 385 4mm stroker and its got stock carbs that have been bore but its using stock pilots and stock needles. Its ripps just as Jethro. -

Anyone Use Power Pistons In Stock Ported Engine?
azsandrat replied to .'s topic in General Banshee Discussion
"Power Pistons" Most are made by Wiseco. Even Vito's. The way they make more power is they machine the exhaust side of the piston down about .040 or 1mm. This makes the exhaust port timing higher. It works well even on stock motors. If you have a ported motor it may put your timing too high depending on were its at. They refer to these pistons as a poor mans port job. It works and is alot cheaper than a port job thats for sure. So any pistons accept for Pro X are made by Wiseco. You can't get them from Wiseco though as Vito's has an agreement with them I believe. -
Duece, I hope every is safe. Man thats got to be scary. I bet you keep a close eye on wind direction right now. Best of luck getting through this one.

NYUK, Do you already have them or wanting to purchase some. What size bore also or cc are they. If its a big bore with 10mm crank the powervalves don't do much since the motoer make alot of torque. Most the builders here order them w/o PV. I'm currently in the middle of a 14mm 78mm bore motor. I'll let you know how it works.

Trouble Getting Crank Welded.
azsandrat replied to Justintoxicated's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Your right Stan its not that time consuming. I get 40 bucks to check the crank for straightness and welding. Most of the time is spent cleaning the cases to reassemble them. I think a seal kit is 30 to 40 bucks too. Justin what year is the motor? If your putting money in the top end its a good idea to put new seals in especially on the crank so she don't lean out if its an older motor. Where do you live and I can give you an idea on shipping the lower end. Its hard to pay 300 bucks for the lower end. Hell you could assemble a BB Chevy in that time. But thats my opinion. Stan shoot me your e-mail add. I have some pics to send your way. -
Trouble Getting Crank Welded.
azsandrat replied to Justintoxicated's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I'm in Mesa Az. Send it our way when your ready. Its not theat hard to split a case and get the crank out. You could send the bottom end and we'll take care of ya. Jim, Glad to help. Shoot me a p.m. and I'll send you a few pieces of wire to try. Its kind of an exspensive wire and a few pieces will last a while before dropping a 100.00 for a pound or so. -
Trouble Getting Crank Welded.
azsandrat replied to Justintoxicated's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Hey Jim, I am a certified aerospace welder and we have been welding cranks for alot of the shops here locally. The reason they crack is because you have a hardened pin being welded to a soft crank. We have been using a wire called "Hastalloy W". Its approved by the AWS and AMS and the military for welding dicsimilar metals together. Its been working fine for us and have had no cracks. Alot of guys use S.S. and it will crack sometimes as soon as you stop the arc. Cranks are under alot of stress and will even flex but its been doing great. Give it a try if you haven't tried it yet. It also works good on cast iron if your tig welding it. Hope this helps. -
Glamis I say. Theres alot more riding to big hills. Small dunes for the kids and good jumping as well and not as much dust in wash one. Its still a tie. Can we vote more than once....... Lefty can you go take some pics of wash one behind that Dano's place that used to be Dirty Bob's...Please.... I'll be fun where ever its gonna be.
-
Just kidding Jethro. Its fun to mess with ya to see what kind of reply you give. Are you still gonna need a ride there? A pot luck sounds good. I usually bring a gas grill for burgers etc. Stoffer's lasagna is a good one to do. It takes 2hour in the oven so you go for a good ride, plus you can feed alot of people with one. There will be at least 2 other toy haulers so we'll have 3 ovens to use. Does the ice cream man go to Gordon's. He does at Glamis...hint hint.
-
Jethro, Your more than welcome to take mine up the hill. Evil, Your kids 50 will do fine if you let all the air out of em. I just got the paddles at the end of last year. Heres Junior at age 5. LT modified 50's Rock My daughter on her 80 This is what we have to do to Jethro

SO KNOW THAT WE HAVE A CONFIRMED DATE SET. IT LOOKS LIKE GECKO AND GORDON'S IS IN A TIE.????? THERE ARE MORE HILLS TO RACE AT GECKO. ALSO WHATS THE AVERAGE AGE OF THOSE OF US GOING. I'LL BE 38 BY THEN. BUT I CAN STILL HOLD MY OWN.????
-
Hey Stan, THX is right. Take 15 south to Las Vegas and then 95 to Yuma. Page takes you way into AZ for no reason. Stan the last time I was in Layton I spun out a Honda accord coming home from Snowbird. It was right on a bridge and luckily I did a 360 and didn't hit a thing. I just had to change my pants. There is no better snow than UTAH SNOW....

We're thinking of bringing the kids too. Are there any little dunes for them to ride near camp like there are at Glamis. ALSO LITTLE DUNES ARE GOOD FOR JUMPING. If we all bring digi camera's we can get some good shots for BHQ. Crashes are also fair game for photos along with a good roost as long as the person is okay. This sounds like a good time. Sand is Sand anywhere you go.
-
Hey Evil are you planning on bringing the wife ans kids?
-
It doesn't matter to me either. I've never camped at Gordon's before so I'll be cool to check it out. We'll have to post pics of evyone's set ups so we'll know what to look for.
-
I think that wash one is a good place to camp. Its close to the store,OLDS,Comp,Lizard Hill, China Wall,BoardmanVille etc. Since its not a major weekend it won't be crowded at all. Thats were we always go and haven't had any problems. If it's by the store its a good place for averyone to meet. If its a holiday, NFW would I camp there.

azsandrat replied to Chemical Castration's topic in General Banshee Discussion
How about those of us that live close go on both weekends. That way you can meet more people. I think Lincster,Jethro,Lefty and THX would be up for it. I am. You can never get enough dune trips in a season. What do ya think? -
37 and still trying to hold on.

I think that engine is the correct term, but I use motor. I think something like MONEY PIT is more appropriate. Its endless isn't it.
