http://www.prp-porstore.com/index.htm Try this stuff. Its the next best thing to powdercoating. You can do you stock arms but they wont be fully cured. They cant be cured for as long and they are baked at a lowwer temp.

It will cost about $20 to get it powdercoated chrome and it will last alot longer than any paint job. And no you dont dip it for p/c chrome you spray it and bake it like regular powder.
It shouldnt cost anymore than $50 to get them done. Are they aftermarket arms? And they will last for awhile. I have done plenty of sets of arms and no problems from riding in high grass.
I dont know about just stripping it and pressure washing it . And sanding it . I f you have that much free time you should just sand the whole thing. You can strip it and get it bead blasted. They have different types abrasives to blast with.
