  1. Where would be a good place to get the modded shift star and shaft? I think I might just take it apart and replace them and the clutch. Its time I believe
  2. Lever and perch are all stock. I think my clutch may be getting wore as well. I dont know if it was ever changed when my friend whom I bought it from has ever changed the plates. I will have to get into it and look. Thanks for the info guys. Just needed to know where to start
  3. I took the banshee out today. It was acting up the last time I was out and was worse this trip. It shifts ok from 1st to second or third gear. But I cannot get it into fourth gear under a load. If Im on the gas and accelerating I can lift on the lever over and over and it will not shift. Once I let off the gas and get the RPM's down so there is not load on the engine it will shift into fourth and up with no problems. But racing up the hill there it is impossible to get fourth gear. What should I look at first? Thanks David
  4. Yeah ive only rode mine in the sand but racing up Sand Mountain I can outrun the 450 by 6-8 bike lenghts. Im going to do some more porting this winter and probably add some nos. Got beat by a few banshees on easter so I need some more power lol
  5. hey locogato how does your 500 run against your 450? my bro in law has a 450 piped, cammed and jetted they are pretty dang fast
  6. I do heating and A/C service work. So I would prefer to move somewhere where i can do A/C all year. I searched is So Cal for jobs. Plenty of jobs all over there but I dont know what kind of pay I would have to make to live decent there. Doesnt seem like they were paying anymore then I make in Utah. Utah has a rising cost of living but not sure if we are caught up to cali yet
  7. I have been thinking of either arizona, Southern Cal or Florida. I went to school in phoenix about 10 years ago. Spent all winter there and loved the weather
  8. Who here lives in a warmer part of the country? I am sick of the cold and not being able to ride for 4-6 months of the year. I am ready to move to a warmer climate where I can ride all year. Just dont know where to go. I love the sand dunes so there has to be some good dunes in the area also
  9. ok thanks for the info My thermometer only goes to 230 but if 200 is hot then that will work just fine.
  10. Does anyone Know what the average engine temp on a 2 stroke should run? Im Installing a thermometer on My quad so I can monitor the engine temp when Im racing up Sand Mountain to make sure Im not overheating but I dont know what the average temp range is.
  11. Sandy Utah Would love to move somewhere where it is warmer all year but dont know if I could move to far away from Little Sahara Ut
  12. If your just beginning pick up a Body For Life book by Bill Phillips. Very easy to follow and you will get great results fast. When I first started lifting a few years ago I lost 13 lbs of fat and added 11 lbs of muscle my first month on that program. After you lift for a while you will want to change and isolate muscle groups more then this program does but for a beginner I think it is perfect
  13. Try this link out and see if it helps you. I dont know what year your 500 is or what they changed over the years http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/500r.htm
  14. thanks cotton eyed joe. I dont have a banshee so I cant change my domes. The head has been milled and the engine was ported and things before I bought the bike. It has around 160 psi of compression. thats about as high as we could get it to go but you cant kick over that 500 motor for very long. when I bought the bike it was way lean on jetting and I siezed the motor. After the rebuild I rejetted and everything has been good since. But just to be safe I thought about race gas if its going to keep things cooler and running better.
  15. If I start running a mix of racegas will I have to make any jetting changes and what will I notice different in the way they bike runs? Any help would be great I want to make sure all my jetting is done before spring

  17. i just stripped my frame down and repainted it with a primer then finished it with an aluminum colored engine enamel paint from the auto parts store. I have spilled some brake fluid and things on it on accident putting it back together and I was able to wipe off the brake fluid and the paint stayed perfect. Other paints i have tried the brake fluid eats it away. It looks much nicer then i thought it would. I was going to powder coat but money was little tight and I wanted to get my bike back together and go riding plus i can always touch up any areas that get damaged without having it redone with powdercoating
  18. there is a sand mountain in utah. From what i have read online it is supposed to be the largest sand mountain in the US i believe, but i could be wrong. One site i read said it was 600 feet high another said 800. I just know it is an awesome hill to race up.
  19. I probably wouldnt be able to make it to AZ for a dunefest but would definately go if it was here in utah
  20. hey I havent been on in a while. I saw on another post you had completed your Cr500 motor install. I had talked to you previously about it. I have a cr500 in a suzuki lt250 frame. Just checking to see how it went for you.
  21. For all out power and fun factor I definatley like my two stroke better. We spend most of our time in the little sahara sand dunes. But I have got to ride my brother-in-laws yamaha 450 and it is by far the most fun ive had on a four stroke. It feels much closer to the two stroke type power. For ease of riding and just to go out for a quick ride I would probably take the 450. But to go race up Sand mountain or climb the face and fingers of Sand Mountain the 450 just cant keep up with my two stroke. I think the downfall to my two stroke is that its a bitch to start. Banshees start much easier than my bike does but once started its well worth it. I plan to get a 450 but I will not get rid of my 2 stroke. P.S. I have a 1985 Suzuki lt250 quad frame with a 85 Honda Cr500r engine installed. that motor is hell to start but damn fast once its running
