  2. I hope my awesome weld holds up! Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  3. I wish I could get them out without bits, but these aren't coming out without them or some other kind of force. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  4. I love these quads, such a different experience than anything else. The cheapest I could find anything in our area was $2500 so I came to terms with that and bought two project bikes for 2k. They'll both be worth more than I put into them (hopefully) when they're done. If not, I don't care. I built them and having peace of mind that they're reliable is worth it. So I'm glad they didn't get parted too. I'm going to just take your advice and get the left handed bits. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  5. I'm in OC but that isn't too far away. If it comes down to it, I'll let you know. Thanks so much for the offer. I was thinking about this kit: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071P492PY/ref=dp_ob_neva_mobile What are your thoughts on that? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  6. Thanks for the tips! I'll post an update when I get it done. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  7. Awesome idea. I'll take it to a small shop, hopefully it's only a few dollars. I don't have a welder. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  8. Oh it's fun! I just don't understand why people do things like that. Yeah, it's fine at the time but it has to come apart eventually. I was thinking about the Dremel trick, but I don't want to ruin the bracket or shift drum. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  9. Any idea how to get it off? My flywheel puller is stripped out from trying to remove it that way. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  10. I also broke the clutch basket so the 89 will need a new one of those. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  11. I just want to keep track of my builds and share with you all my projects. On Saturday December 2nd we bought a new car and somehow managed to also buy two Banshees. Now, they're projects and we got both complete bikes for $2000. A 1989 and a 2000. Both are mostly stock, both also have aftermarket carburetors. I also got the top end rebuild kit and a cool head with the bikes. My plans: I have a trip coming up New Year's Weekend at Ocotillo Wells and I fully intend to have both of these running. With that said...the short term • The 89 needs a new transmission • doing the clutches and top end on both • carb rebuilds on both • doing the bushings and bearings front and back on both • the 89 needs a new flywheel. Some asshole torqued it so much the thing is concave and rubbing the stator it's so bent • 89 probably needs a new stator • new bushings and seals all around both motors I just want to make these as reliable as possible so I'm doing all the hard stuff while I have the cases split. Also, some dickhead got the shift drum screws in but decided to strip them COMPLETELY on the way in. Any advice on how to remove those is appreciated. I haven't even started on the 2000 yet, but I'm sure it has its own surprises. The long term: full restorations. New everything and paint. I'm going to start on that after this season. For now, I just want to get them rideable. More pictures to come. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  12. There's your answer man. Something is rubbing somewhere. Which isn't good. Sounds like something is bent, or installed improperly. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  13. Wait, how is your stator smoking? Your stator doesn't spin itself so if something in there is smoking it's not the stator unless something else is rubbing against it. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  14. I am a cheap ass, admittedly. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks for all of the replies so far. I am fine with paying a bit for a Banshee, I just didn't want to get stiffed. I've been out of the game for almost 10 years, never owned a Banshee though. Looking forward to getting one as they are too fun. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk
  16. Hey everyone! I just joined the forums and am currently in the market for an 87-00 Banshee. I am in Southern California and all the quads that I am finding are at least $1800. Nada and KBB are pricing late 80's early 90's at about $700-$1000. I know it's riding season out here which bumps the price up a bit. But I think $1800-$2500 for an '87 or a '91 is way too much. Also, I am looking at bikes that are as stock as possible. I don't mind a desert tank or an exhaust, but I'm not looking for a drag bike or anything heavily modded. So, what do you guys think?
