  1. Did you check the fuel air mixture screw and make sure it was adjusted properly?
  2. Did you check the fuel idle mixture screw and make sure it was adjusted properly??
  3. Start it at night, rev it up and see if wire is arcing off of something. The spark jump will be quite evident in the dark.
  4. Do a search on how to perform a leak down test!! I will probably tell you all you need to know!! If it wont hold air then you probably have a lean condition!!
  5. Never ever install a used crank unless you have It completely rebuilt!!! Of course if you are going to do that, spend virtually the same money and get a hot rodz crank that is brand new!!! As for the cases, I have never needed any special tools to open them up.... My old cases have the chain whack but are very usable otherwise, if you would like to make me an offer on them.... I would rather think though that you would search for a set of cases that were not damaged at all! As for the cylinders, they are right, buy new ones, or have new sleeves pressed into those ones (if they do that for banshees..). check all transmission bearings for wear and install a stainless water pump impeller while you are in there. Gook Luck!!!

  7. Do the leak down test, if good then measure your cylinder too see if it is within spec for the piston installed, if so, lightly hone cylinder so new rings will seat properly. Do both cylinders even though only one is low! I have been told on a re ring that only two heat cycles are needed to seat rings before you give it all it's got! Others can verify or modify that if needed.
  8. Talked to Nate at kan power sports, for a little over 200.00 he can fix the port timing and cut the domes! Said it will make a night and day difference..... Looks like the shee gets to make a 70 mile road trip to more horsepowerville!
  9. And if the cylinder is any more than .003 (I beleive) bigger than the piston, Then you definitely need to bore. Make sure you or whoever bores the cylinders chamfer the ports before reassembly!!
  10. Mine did the same thing when my chain was too loose.. The chain was binding on the back side of the chain guide mounted on the swing arm.. Probably not what you have going on but worth a peek!!
  11. They are actually the ones who ported the carbs and installed the pvl ignition originally.. I'll give Kim a call in the morning ans see what my options are... Maybe I should pull the damn crank, sell it, then buy a stock one.... Any opinions on the kind of gains I could see if I get the setup working optimally??
  12. Be careful when you pop the cases not to let the tranny gears fall off their shafts or you will be a while figuring out which order they go back on the shaft!! And when you reassemble make sure you clean the two case half joining surfaces with a good solvent before applying the sealant. Sucks when you fire it up just to find out you are drawing in trans oil into the crank case...

  15. Looks like new crank, new pistons, bore job... Par for the banshee course!
  16. Yeah, best to start the jetting high and work back down! Molten piston metal down in the crank bearings is bad mojo! Remember to clean out the idle jets, needle valve seats and main jets!! May as well make sure the float is set to the proper height as well.
  17. Make sure you didn't blow out a base gasket!! I had a similar problem when one of my base gaskets blew out.
  18. The crank came with the wiseco pistons with the wrist pins in a little different location than the stock pistons, are these the 795 pistons you are referring to?? I have the trinity cool head as well, can a proper machine shop cut the domes on those??
  19. I need some help figuring out how my banshee should be set up properly... I guess I never thought about messing up the port timing with the addition of a 4mm long rod crank before installing one.... My banshee still runs great but I'm not sure I'm really getting the benefits of the 4mm crank.. The kit I purchased came with a 2mm head gasket and that is what is installed, does that keep the port timing the same or seriously mess with it??? Any help would be appreciated!! Oh, my stock cylinders do have the trinity stage three port done on them.
