Will do!! I'm waiting on seals for head gasket and base for jugs, I'm gonna pull the head and see if I overheated it and scored the cylinders or anything along that line. After I do that I will do a leak down and compression test than clean carbs and tune as needed. Parts should be here any day so I will report back with anything I may find, remember this isn't my quad so I'm not in such a hurry to get it done. Another thing is my damn cool head is coming in this week, I'm gonna have to sneak it on my bike so my buddy don't say "oooooh I want one"! Wish me luck I'm goin in, well when seals get in! Thanks again guys

Nope definitely haven't shot myself just yet. I did however have my finger on the trigger and the barrel to my temple but I got over it.. Look personal preference or whatever this whole topic made a couple left turns and never found the right path. It seems to me like someone just wants to be praised for making a valid point. I just wanna know if there is a remedy or justifiable reason why in the hell this happened. But you guys can play egobusters all you want I will be opening this can of worms up and report back with my findings when possible... Thanks anyway for all that have put some sensible input in this tread. Gracias amigos

It has a stock head and no it wasn't tipped over at all we just drained the trans fluid and jacked the bike up with a little lift but everything was on a level surface.. I mean my bike got the same sheeit done and nothin went wrong and his banshee is a few years newer than mine which is pretty irrelevant but what gives! We installed v force reeds and synced carbs and jetted properly for everything.. We went out for a ride last week and all was good, bike ran strong the whole day! Than impeller gets changed and the bike starts to act up!! Anyway thanks for the input all and thanks for being patient with me!
-
But why would the bike have a hard time starting now? Like I have to spray some premix in the carbs to actually have it turn over than eventually it bogs down and dies if I'm not holding the throttle a little.. Mind me I only changed the impeller and installed the pancake bearing!!
-
That's how I feel Gravel I can't make sense of it at all!! I'm sure me posting this after someone had a similar issue a few days ago is what's makin u throw ur hands in the air!! But damn how can a damn impeller be so destructive I just don't get it. Trust me I read a lot before posting this!!
-
Yeah I read through that issue about the other day and didn't seem to help me out.. I just found it absolutely weird that it happened just from simply changing the impeller. I'm hoping the added pressure from the impeller if it does actually pressurize the system more didn't blow the head gasket!! This damn quad is driving me crazy it's had its share of issues and I thought I had it right. Idk man I really don't, ordered some new gaskets I'm gonna remove the cylinders and take a peek at the crank and what not cause I'm lost now! I did take the rad cap off and yeah it definitely got warm!! Coolant level was still where it was when it was filled so idk..
-
Ok so the weirdest thing happened. So a few weeks ago I changed my impeller and installed a pancake bearing on my bike. Well it was one of those monkey see monkey do kinda deals. My buddy that has a banshee decided he wanted to do the same to his quad since he seen mine went in and performed well after the simple mods. Well yesterday we installed his pancake and impeller. After about ten minutes his bike started to gurgle and leak coolant out of the res tank.. We let the bike cool down and res tank was a bit low from coolant leaking out but not empty!! So I removed the impeller cover and kicked the bike over to see if maybe the gear was damaged during install and nothin, all worked well I think the impeller turned counter clockwise. Put back together and topped off and ran again and same thing!! Took cap off rad and it seemed to me like coolant was moving around but not 100% on how to verify it. I have no idea what the hell is going on, bike ran fine when factory impeller was installed but now that billet is on it spits fluid out and doesn't wanna start right away!! What went wrong?? Thanks like always fellas, slowly but surely I will stop asking questions and start helping answer issues with all the crap goin on!
-
Hey thanks Zilla!!!!! Gonna order them and send them out to powder!
-
So I was just browsing the web and found some rear hubs that widen the rear end 3 1/2". I think tusk makes them, what are your thoughts on them?? They are about $100 and seems like a cheap alternative vs purchasing a rear axle, am I asking for trouble by being cheap or can they get me by for a while? I guess I'm just bored at this point and wanna do a couple things to the shee that won't break the bank!! Thanks fellas

Silver Lake bound I need to know some things
2STROKIN_IT replied to 2STROKIN_IT's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah thanks all this input has been very helpful. I've been on the hunt for spark arrestors all day and finally found some for my toomey t5s at $70 each!! Do I need to buy the hush kit with arrestor or will the sparkys alone be sufficient enough? Don't know if they are too loud and what not. Wait so if I go Friday afternoon after work I won't be able to get in until Saturday morning?? I am reserving a camp site I think it's lot 220 or somewhere close to it, like I said I'm kinda nervous and don't wanna take that long ass drive just to get turned around over some bull.. I don't mind buying a flag and stickers and what not just don't need anything else to pop up. -

Yeah I'll probably get my sparkys today online while it's still early. Is anybody else gonna be there that weekend? I'm sure every banshee there is gonna run circles around me but I wanna go for the experience!! A ten foot high flag? I just measured mine and its 8' and some change from the ground to the top of the flag. Guess I'm gonna see if there's any camp sites available still so I can reserve my spot. Gonna take my smoker out there and make some good ol Texas bbq!! I'm thinkin brisket and some pulled pork! All you guys are welcome to stop by, that is if all goes as planned -

Well I have a pick up truck but no 4x4 will I be able to make it around or will I be screwed? Don't wanna get stuck but it's a Nissan Frontier so it's light idk I've never been and really wanna go. Just don't need any surprises!! -
Ok so we are planning a trip to Silver Lake June 12-14 for the supposed biggest event of the year there. But I would like to know what you guys recommend for my banshee when I go?? I have paddles on another set of wheels but what else do I need? It's a pretty stock motor with simple bolt on mods. Will my toomy t5s get me in or do I need to go another route? I would hate to take a four hour drive and them not let me in due to a technicality!! Mods: toomy t5 system, uni filter system, impeller, pancake bearing, timing plate set at +4, v force 4 reeds and that's really it. Idk let me know and as always thanks a lot fellas, hopefully I can make the trip and meet a few of you guys in person if you all go!!
-
I agree REMOVE THAT CRAP!!!! It's really cheap, it's saves you headaches and it cleans up the engine compartment.. Given you don't take any "beer" breaks it should take less than 2 hours max to remove tors and clean your carbs up real nice. I say about $60 for complete tors removal kit with drill bit and tap!!! Do it

Switching transmission fluid type
2STROKIN_IT replied to 2STROKIN_IT's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Can I run 15-40 Rotella?? -
Yeah that's not too bad at all!! Well on my rig now I have the ToomyT5 system on there, the $800 has factory pipes on it. I was mainly lookin at it for the wheels and 2-1 carb setup on it but other than that there was nothing special. I'm gonna look into the site sponsor and see what they are offering up before I go and commit. I have a few hours left at work so I'm gonna do a little digging around. I am really glad I started this topic!!
-
Well I am mainly wanting it for parts vs a rebuild on it. I want to take motor out and send it out to get overhauled so I can slap on my running Banshee. I was looking at it in the sense of not having any down time while the cylinders get done up and what not. Plus I'm one of those inquisitive fellas and would like to tear the motor apart just to see how the insides work and I don't wanna do that to my running bike. But I'm gonna low ball the crap out of him till I see smoke coming out of his ears!! Let you know how it goes or if I even get it...
-
Yeah he didn't send me very good quality pics. But that kinda sucks that wiring had different plugs, makes me hesitant to buy. He seems a bit desperate so I'll take about $500 with me and see how it goes. He is only an hour drive from me so it won't be too much time wasted if I go. Weather is shit out here right now so I can't even tinker with my bike very much. I'll let you know how it goes, I'm glad I got word from you guys cause I thought that was a steal. Thanks again guys, I owe you a beer
-
So I got a guy selling a bike with a "bill of sale" only. It has minimal upgrades on it and it's an 87, old j arm setup I believe. I'm still fresh off the boat when it comes to these but I can use the majority of the parts for my 97 right? He said the motor is locked up completely but my question is would it be worth the price? I think upgrades were like a trinity 2-1 carb setup, k and n pod filter with outer on a pro flow plate and some itp wheels with decent rubber. Other than that everything is bone stock. He has no clue as to why it locked up might I add. Any input on this would be amazing considering I will be driving out to look at it after work this afternoon. Like always Thanks a bunch fellas

Switching transmission fluid type
2STROKIN_IT replied to 2STROKIN_IT's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Well I mean I let it idle till I get my gear on and put my gas n stuff away which takes the best part of 3 minutes. But I don't sit there and let's say "watch the grass grow"!! I guess I'll try the Rotella though since I can get it at work. But I can surely see that everyone has their personal preference on fluids!! I'll try it out this weekend if weather permits and report back with my opinion about it. -
Switching transmission fluid type
2STROKIN_IT replied to 2STROKIN_IT's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Hmmm Rotella huh??? I have very easy access to Rotella at my job considering I'm a grease monkey that works on airport ground equipment. Everything is diesel powered!!! I might just give that a try but man that's some thick ass stuff. I could imagine it's gonna take a minute for it to warm up and thin out before I can really get at it right? -
Ok so I recently went in and put in a pancake bearing and rebuilt my water pump (billet impeller, o-rings, bearing) and changed trans fluid while I was there. Oh and my factory impeller already had cracks on it where shaft met impeller!!!! Glad I changed it when I did! Here's the dilemma the guy I bought the bike from was running amsoil 10/30 or 40 synthetic m/c oil for wet clutches. Anyway I was wondering if I can just change the fluid to let's say (and dare I say) type f atf? Or am I better if buying new fibers and just soaking them in the new fluid that I plan on running? Thanks amigos
