its not blwoing out radiator cap though, only overflow. so shouldnt be headgasket. has never done it since after hours of riding it. pretty sure it was just adjusting coolant level. thanks! -

okay! ill give that a shot. is there a certain way i should route the cable? i just ran it in open space really.. i do have a clymer, I could check that haha. I did pull both caps and had a buddy twist the throttle and they moved seemed to move up and down correctly? so not sure why they wouldnt in the carbs when the caps are back on, but could be! -

the throttle cable did come out of one carb, i just pushed it back in? and good idea on the filter pulling. I did use a rough pad on a drill and spun all over the cases to clean old stuff off. then applied thick yamabond everywhere -

but the cases are below the pistons? why would it rev so high? and i put yamaha \bond everywhere. thick -
I managed to weld the ball and push rod together, so I pulled the motor and split the cases. (first time doing this so may have done something wrong.) I basically only removed what I had to, and slightly lifted tranny to put new push rod in. then did the pancake bearing update. I did lift the crank from the bottom some because i had to put the new crank seal on. then i put it back together with yamabond. The stator i didnt know if it had to be lined up or somethin like a 4stroke timing, so i just put the flywheel on the key and bolted flywheel on, toqued down etc. carbs sat for probably 8 months on there sides on the ground, in a non dusty spot. put them in and didnt know what needle went with what carb so tried both. both times the quad runs full throttle as soon as youstart. i dont think i have a t.o.r.s, previous owner must have removed that, and the needle/throttle cable appear to be working right, i checked both of them, they slide right. i do have alot of open connections under fuel tank, not sure what thats about. any ideas?? cant figure this out, and when i say full throttle, i mean its damn near gonna blow and the twist lever is resting all the way forward... thanks
-
no. i wanted to see if anyone had an idea to get the rod out
-
any ideas?
-
i got the actuator out.. and the head of that side of the push rod is smashed up like the head of a nail.
-
hit the push rod with a punch and its not froze! exciting right! the flywheel side is bugged up tho...so it wont slide out.. lol. any new ideas? or back to splitting the cases..?
-
THAT HELPED!! so since the pushrod slides into a gear shaft. what will i do here, remove that rack of gears and try to pound out the push rod? i cant put it in a vice.. so how will this work? any ideas or past experiences? haha Also, what all should I order, threebond 1211, then what? crank seals? do i need kick start seal? anything else?
-
I have a clymer. just not sure how to read it yet haha
-
i have an impact, that should have enough torque then? illgive it a shot! anyone want to point me in the right direction though as to where to start? motor is upside down on workbench.. what all do i need to remove? bolts/parts wise
-
is the bottom half pretty easy? never thought of that.. wont crank be in the way? will i still need that clutch puller tool?
-
We've talked this over before, but i have a froze push rod and need to split the cases. I have the motor out and ready, as well as a clymer repair manual, but where do I start? Do I have to pull the topend, cylinders etc? becuase ive heard that if you pull the topend the rings may not seat in again correctly. Thanks!
-
thanks! that usually work pretty good? guess i just dont want to miss a spot and then it leaks..was hopin there was a gasket
-
so ill need to change crank seals? also, i cant even find a gasket that seals the cases on ebay? whats it sealed with right now?
-
and thanks for all the help! any recommendations on what gasket kit i should get? or which ones ill need?
-
-
what other speciality tools will i need? some clutch puller?
