  1. As long as a person doesn't go overboard on the porting it will not eat rings any faster than what it does now.
  2. Actually I learned this from rnband or something like that or at least from a post he started ..... they will be dim, but will work. You will get better brightness from stock 35 watt bulbs or a more powerful stator.
  3. I believe the epa has put a 2 stroke ban out as of 2006. That's why the new bass boats are pushing 4 strokes also.
  4. I have to agree with that one. That's what made them come up with it. That way they had a few years to perfect it.
  5. Yes it is.... http://www.winmx.com
  6. Sounds like you understand the reservoirs. It depends how hard of a rider you are. You have to beat shocks pretty bad to make the reservoir work right then. It will make the oil last longer. Even if it save you one rebuild, they reservoirs will pay for themselves. Most companies charge $100 to $150 for reservoirs as far as I know. But, you may not need them. If you ride harder than the group you hang with, get the reservoirs. If you find yourselves staying with a group.. you probably don't need them unless you think there slow...
  7. I've only heard good about Elka. Good to hear. I have Axis currently, but my second choice is between Elka and TCS.
  8. I will probably run worse than with a stock crank if you don't have the porting matched at least. You don't need a full port job, but have someone match the timing to at least stock.
  9. Kazza is full of spyware and will slow down your pc.
  10. I have to agree. 380's to 400's depending on humidity, elevation and temp. You really need some bigger carbs for the motor. You will gain bottom to top.
  11. WinMX is one of the most simple least resource using shareware programs out there.
  12. Don't forget to check your ring gap. I think that's the number 1 thing forgotten about on a top end rebuild.
  13. What he said.
  14. If you're going to ride it twice a month, just make sure the coolant is 50/50. Other than that, have fun. You don't need to do most of the other things including the oil in the cylinders.
  15. I would never run any filter on the stock box setup. Also, I'd never run a k&n without an outerwear. I think the foam filters do a better job personally but I like water, mud, whatever. The oils you put on foam repel water to a degree. If it does get wet you can squeeze the water out of it. I realize you may just fun in the sand though. As far as being restrictive, I run a 4mm stroker and it runs fine with a foam filter and ari box.
  16. Yeah, it keeps the condensation from creating rust in the cylinders. Keeping a full tank isn't a bad idea until spring then you can empty it. This way condensation doesn't build in the gas tank. I use to have a boat I use to winterize. It's was similar.
  17. You can also put fogging oil or a tablespoon or two of 2 stroke oil in each cylinder then crank it over by hand after doing what shredish said. Then grease all your zerks to get any water out. Tip the quad up onto the grab bar to let the water drain out of the frame. Make sure you have a good 50/50 mix of antifreeze and water in the cooling system.
  18. I just don't know how big the hole is for the fuel to flow. I know I cut those little filters off mine a long time ago and run an inline filter. I just didn't look.
  19. Are you able to open the fuel circuit inside the petcock to accomodate the extra fuel flow? Good concept you have their though.
  20. You can get great power with just porting. Thing is, you already have a bad crank. If you have them money to get porting done and a head, why not get a stroker crank. You can replace the intakes and carbs later if you want to and figure out filtration set up. 4mm stroker add 4mm to the stroke distance of the rods. 2mm higher and 2mm lower. The pistons will actually stick out 2mm above stock cylinders. That's why you need a modified head/domes or a spacer plate. Depends on the money you want to spend. Like said above you are probably looking at $1000 to $1700 to make it right. If you just get it bored, new stock head, piston kit, gasket, seals, and crank you can proabably get away with $700-$800.
  21. If you've ever looked at the swirls in the barrel of a rifle you'll know what it is. They cut the swirls into the bore of the carbs.
  22. That's were the lawyer could come in handy.
  23. Yep, but if you have that much oil coming out, you may have another problem.
  24. You may see about getting a lawyer. Reckless driving can be very bad on your record. Maybe a lawyer can butter it up for you.... Maybe your buddy got a flat and it pulled him into the field, if you were just helping him, you were providing a service, etc... Get the point. A lawyer might cost some $$$ but it may be worth it. Your insurance rates are probably already insane.
  25. There has to either be a couple screws inside the slide holding a cap on the needle or some type of cover that threads off it. I'm not familiar with the mikuni 34mm.
